How to get out of Blair's contract?

If Blair ran hard he could be devastating on the edges, instead he strolls up like a bloke chugging along on his way to a morning coffee. He needs a bit of the mongrel that Bodene showed against the Storm, Blair would be seen as a teddy-bear by the opposition without a doubt…....pig heart time Tommy!

you people are in Dreamland…he is a Bludger.. he did Nothing last year, that is 0 ..and this year is 1..on a rating of 10\. while he is in the team , we play with 12 players..put the young men in the team.

Whilst he isn't starring,he does a lot of dirty work that goes unnoticed, like pressuring the kicker, picking up loose balls,he is going ok.

LOL
A specialist loose ball picker upper ey?
I guess you need some good foresight for that role

He needs to de-hoppa himself and get his jersey dirty for once

Potter needs to liven up some of his players somehow. Maybe we will get an insight with his selections later today.

I still think people's expectations of Blair are way too high. Almost as if we're expecting him to move mountains on the field. Got to remember at Melbourne he was playing in a far more dominant side, in a system that was well versed and drilled into him. Here his role is different, the coaching style is different, not to mention the fact it's two coaches in two years at the Tigers. I also think that his form in recent weeks had been good although it dropped v the Dragons, however he wasn't alone there. Throw in the fact the side seems to constantly be changing due to injuries, suspensions, there are reasons for failing to find peak form.'

I do agree though that his form can improve, his discipline being one area needing improvement. Defensively I think most weeks the work rate has been there, he's had a few issues with missed tackles though. Offensively i'm not sure what we're expecting from him. At Melbourne he was known as a player with mongrel and a physical presence, which doesn't always translate into great statistics.

Blair is going alright, he has not been awesome, which in many people's mind makes him useless.

I think people blaming him for ousting Gibbs mean he gets marked harder than others.

The papers have also grossly exagerated his contract also, and people are right, he is not worth $500k, nor is he being paid it

Yep..thats the dirty work for Blair, picking up a loose ball, pressuring the kicker…add to that being the dummy runner...being the third man in on the tackle...get real , he doesnt raise a sweat.

Like I said at the start of the discussion, Blair is a solid enough player. The problem is that he is being paid as one of top tier players (whatever the specific number is) and he isn't that. Further, there is nothing in his game that isn't replaceable by another player. For instance, I basically see Fulton and Blair as interchangeable (with Fulton perhaps being slightly better) despite the difference in salary between the two.

Blair is a solid defender, but he is not like Ellis who was able to single-handedly stop the momentum of opposition teams with a dominant tackle. In fact, Blair rarely has dominant tackles and is actually more likely to allow quick play the balls in which the markers aren't able to get set. Numerous tries last year were scored off the back of such tackling. He generally falls off to the side of tackles and doesn't have the strength to hold players off the ground. Ellis, as a contrast, was able to grab a player, stop them and put them to the ground whenever he was good and ready to do so. Blair's defense has been less of a problem this year, but he isn't a dominant defender and cannot reverse the momentum of a match.

In attack, Blair has good hands and is reasonably mobile, but he is not an impact runner and does not create much second phase play. Worse still, his play the balls are only of average speed, so he doesn't contribute to the momentum of the team. He simply doesn't have the size or aggression to be a threat. To his credit, he is not particularly error prone and he generally makes good decisions with the ball (even if he doesn't really create much opportunity).

Finally, he regularly concedes penalties for ill-disciplined play, which costs the side badly. This wouldn't be such a problem if he was intimidating opposition and causing turnovers and as a consequence occasionally concede the odd penalty. But, Blair doesn't do this and so his penalties are frustratingly unnecessary.

For these reasons he simply isn't an elite player. I would not be playing him for 80minutes (he isn't valuable enough on the field to keep him on) and I would love to get rid of him. There are a long list of better second rowers who have more impact including: Watmough, Stewart, Hoffman, Taylor, Thaiday, Bird, Mateo, Myles to name a few just off the top of my head.

Would any team accept him if we pay half his salary or something like that?

What ever happens dont let scum like Taylor into the team. Causing havoc for the club officials at Titans which is why he was dropped to NSW cup.

There is a reason why McGuire and Souths let him go even though he was smashing sides.
