How's your health?

Cancer just sucks , I got the bad news in June , had heaps of tests from February and then bang ,Pancreatic Cancer , no surgery available for mine as it has wrapped around main artery, had a stint put in as it blocked bile duct , that helped me turn back to normal colour from orange , started chemo in September 3 on 1 off , third week is a real killer get done Tuesday don’t come good until Friday , given 6 to 18 months but I’m planning to stick around a bit longer , very tough on family but they adjust after a while , friends are the same they don’t know what to say when they find out but I just tell them it’s all good and I be around to annoy them for a while yet , positive thinking is a must and also thoughts for now not the end , plan a trip , I’m doing 3 day cruise to no where early December friends coming so good group few days ,
The big C sucks more than anything
Only just saw your post 426...its beginning to feel like who hasnt/doesnt have cancer here...but as i said to CF...the doctors and.meds are improving all.the time.
Is the stent they gave you called the TIPS procedure?
I had bile leaking after they cut out my liver cancer...had a drain and even.after going home had to measure how much drained each day even after i got home...gruesome annoying stuff.
I can tell your a fighter...just gotta keep getting up off the stool when the bell rings and keep punching.
Beat the shit outta this bastard!

That’s such a shitty diagnosis for you and your family. You are absolutely correct to say positive thinking helps but it’s ok to have shitty pissed off days too. Take care, keep on fighting & if you need it, know all your WTF friends will be here for you. ❤️

Not sure what it was called , day surgery originally , down your throat to bile duct but it was closed over to much so they did plan B , and did a by pass. They also took sample of cancer and had a camera look into gut area , problem was it went from 1/2 day to 6 days in hospital to recover and get the billy Ruben back to normal plus drip for infection as by pass had holes put into parts to get stint into place , it worked and took about 4 weeks till all was good to start chemo

Just want to say thanks to all who have given a shout out , much appreciated , funny world we live in when the chips are down we seem to jump on board to help no mater in which way , I would like to share this , I play bowls casual and poorly 😂but I met a guy who was running a comp , 5 week every Monday so me and the wife went to put our names down and it was full list no spots left , I said to the wife never mind we do it next year the guy we met was behind us and said you 2 are new bowlers we said yes he said I’m running this il fit you in , so he did and it was great and we always say hello when we see him , I knew he was also crook but no idea what it was , I have heaps of mates at the club and they talk , hears the part I near cried , I’m down the hospital first chemo session , I got my weight checked and temp done and walked back out to wait for chemo and hear is Macca ( the guy from club ) in the wait room , I seen him and I said to the wife it’s Macca he must be on chemo il say hello , I walked over said hi and I said you doing chemo today he said I’ve done mine but was waiting for you to give you some support being first time in the chemo chair , I was stunned , turns out he has pancreatic cancer as well , his was treated 4 years ago but it has come back , great man mid 70s and battling along but worrying about others , we are now good mates , and he always says see ya down the hospital we share chemo cocktails

Good luck with the chemo 426.
I hope you don't have a dose of the sometime nasty effects that chemo can cause.
Did they tell you what level your cancer was?
I'm sure you are a lot younger than me so have a lot more to live for and a lot of livin yet to do.
At my age if the cancer was above level 3, I wouldn't personally be going anywhere near chemo.
But you know you, so I'm sure you are making the right choices, and I wish you the very best of good luck, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for an extra dose of good luck.

Ahhhhh, those chemo cocktails.
I have dreamt about them every night since I stopped alcohol 35 years ago, just like an ex-smoker dreams about smoking.
Enjoy!!!

My grandfather had I think the regular dementia (alzheimers) if that helps.
My Fathers [complete asshole] father had Alzheimer's even before it was called Alzheimer's, it was that long ago 😂.
I pity the poor buggers that had it 200 years ago.
I can't imagine them being treated very well.

Funny thing is since i was diagnosed ive heard next to nothing from my work colleagues. Im not sure how to take it , im a little bit annoyed because i really thought they would give a shit but im also understanding that perhaps they arent sure what to say .
If i had advice to people who have a freind in need ... and you arent sure what to say and are stuck for words . Is just to say that you are thinking of them . Pretty simple but means alot.
Anyway im having a few medical beers today .

My work employs about 300 ppl and ive been there nearly 30 years..
HR ticks all the PC boxes every month.. Its November and they are going hard on all the mens health promotions... But ive heard nothing from management lol. Im a man help me lol.
Anyway just sort of joking as i dont really care ...BUT its a reminder to people in those positions.. promotions and flyers mean zero without showing compassion and interests in your employees.
Just saying

I only told a few of my close friends at work, and my boss....as I had to have 8 weeks off.
I had no sickies left but the company let me go into the red (paid them back when I had to leave permanently with all my entitlments owing)
I couldnt just disappear for 2 months without a word as I was a supervisor to abou 11 staff....most my closer colleagues I told were supportive but it is an awkward discussion, I made sure we kept it brief.
Even though its been 2 years since I left I still keep in contact with a few and will catch up with a couple next week before christmas.
I was lucky I had a very good boss who understood all the time I needed off long before I finished for doctors appts, scans, blood tests etc etc
I understand your feelings CF, if my old employer didnt give two craps after Id given 16 years service Id be a bit dirty too
Just the luck of the draw I guess
Plenty here are always happy to listen when you need to get something off your chest

Yep im not to concerned .. Just pointing out things that may help others going forward. Trying to create something postive out of things.
Im sure though when push comes to shove they will help out in different ways.
PS ... only got 2 days of cricket distraction lol. But it was a cracker of a game , even my wife who isn't into crickets enjoyed it.
