HULL KR

Congratulations to the new world champions.
This game proved once again what I've been saying for a while, that the skill level and standard of play in the NRL has been dropping.
The 2025 comp. was the poorest level of footy I can remember and the Broncos would have to be the lowest quality premiers since 1908.
Now I know the excuse will be trotted out again but the facts are that Super League's champs have beaten the NRL premiers in all conditions including 40 degree heat at Penrith. I mean Penrith gave up trying to beat the English and forfeited last year's game.

Just to give the defeat further context, Hull KR are also at the beginning of their season and were BEATEN last week by the team that was just promoted to the Super League, who are expected to finish near the bottom of the table.

Time to take the NRL rose coloured glasses off. The NRL is a boring robotic product that's a shadow of it's former self.

This is what happens when the Broncos are not allowed to play in the regular timeslot of Friday 8pm in Brisbane...

The Broncos originally wanted to invite them over to play tonight in Brisbane but realised that the viewing audience would be severely impacted because the mighty Wests Tigers are playing a trial game tonight.

I blame the coaches.
Every junior coach thinks he's Craig Bellamy and we have a generation of players lacking in the basic skills, because they're focused on playing a "system."
If a player throws a cut out pass or a floater that leads to a try we have commentators carry on like the wheel has just been invented. They're skills that every player of the 70's 80's and 90's all had. Basic draw and pass and creating space should be in every player's DNA but coaches don't allow it.
I watch a fair bit of schoolboy football and it's all a piss poor imitation of the NRL full of kids that either can't pass left to right or right to left. Eyes up footy is dying.
One of our own, our much vaunted fullback can't create space for his outside men. He constantly angles towards the sideline until his winger is totally cramped against the sideline. It's not his fault, he's never had the coaching of how to do it properly in the juniors.
The game's crying out for new ideas. The current version is tedious.

Was thinking the broncos.might.pull off another come from behind win....they started slow.and finished fast

Dunno what Mikey Lewis was.thinking in that last touch finder...couldve been very costly.

Litten.the 9 was very good and our old.mate Ollie Gildart not bad too

You could see Hull choke and stop playing football. The final score really didn't reflect the game.

Fox really dropped the ball by having Australian commentators in a studio on the other side of the world. The atmosphere was lost.
The Pommy commentators can be irritating but it's all part of the fun of the game.

Hahaha what a load of bullshit … the tries were even in the end . Simple goal kicking was the difference . The rumours around the broncos is there’s some motivation issues within the squad . The Haas leaving is the tip of the iceberg.
It’s literally 3 weeks to the start of the nrl season , and no one gives a shit in Aus about the world club challenge .
If the SL and NRL were to merge every single nrl team would be well above every single super league team . It’s simply a motivation issue, and always has been .
The best indicator for the truth of what I’m saying is what happened in SL for that one year . A mid season tournament , and every English team got lapped by every SL team.
If there is a pom on here delusional to agree with this guy , good luck to you .
This game gets played in October . And it’s a very different result.

Oh man this is the most ludicrous take I’ve seen in ages .
If you look at simply the way the tries were scored it undermines everything you’re saying .
All the hill tries were off grubbers to the in goal , outside a dropped ball off a simple kid , and crash ball , that was into shocking defence that lacked commitment .
I’d love to see hull KR and st Hellen’s play a round 2 nrl team . I’d chuck the titans at them .
They would get lapped . Anybody with a clue knows this is true . It’s really hard to get Australian players up for this match . They see it as a pre season hit out . Nothing more. Also a free trip to England . It means everything to the English .

Totally agree, intensity not there due to the timing of match, weather, plus the social aspects.
Play a return game in Brissie and imo Broncs win by 20+. Anyway, as you be say, good for the game over there- some sort of redemption after the Ashes.
I think there’s much more interest in tonight’s trial. Well all be watching closely.
