Hi all,

Gareth has signed for us today and I am absolutely delighted.

How do you feel he will go for us? I am aware he has been great in his spell for you but wonder if this is still the case or if his abilities are on the wane?

GARETH Ellis has agreed to join Hull FC on a three-year deal when he returns to Super League next season.
>
The 30-year-old second row left Leeds in 2008 and has been Wests Tigers player of the year in all his seasons in the NRL.

I think the Peter Gentle link may have been the key as to why he signed with you guys at Hull

How will he go? You already know the answer. He's world class and plays great in most games, rarely has an off day and is a giant in defense.

One of the greatest poms ever. In fact, one of the greatest Tigers ever.

Good luck to Gareth. He's been a credit to your competition and your country. Great player and a great person.

Holy hell, he is easily one of the best in the NRL. He will absolutely dominate the ESL. Man of Steel favourite for 2013, bet your castle

Bloody hell thanks for the replies guys!

You have to understand we are used to getting second rate NRL rejects as a rule and so when a generally world class player (still) signs for a club like us it almost sounds too good to be true.

I am really, really buzzing!

By the way Peter Gentle is doing a fine job over here too

Hull FC could have the worst side in the ESL in 2012 but Gareth Ellis would single handedly take you to the finals in that comp, I'd put money on it and then sugar on the money.

Hope he helps you to 3 consecutive premierships.
Top player, and will be sorely missed around these parts.

when the going gets tough, ellis puts his hand up every time.never backs down and gives everything in the tank.
words just don't say enough.

going to miss him big time.

i will update this video at the end of the year, with a tear in my eye.

I honestly would not have swapped Ellis for any second-rower in the NRL in the last 10 years. An absolute champion.

I am so grateful for all the replies. I truly cannot wait to have him in our colours next year. We are a club that the awful phrase "Sleeping Giant" gets attributed to frequently so are hoping this kind of signing will herald a new beginning *prays silently*

Thanks for posting that Youtube clip Bonstonker

Last weekend we got a glimpse of life without Ellis and boy, it was not pretty.

Gareth is just about the best player this club has ever signed. He will never be effectively replaced.

Don't count your eggs yet. Has Humphreys actually signed the official release?

Ellis is simply unbelievable. Puts in every game. Leads our forwards. Pretty close to our best player.

Huge loss for us.

He will be a huge loss to our club and a mighty coup for yours club HullFC We notice it whenever he doesn't play for the Tigers , he is te heart and soul of the Tigers

Good luck Gareth , I hope we can send you out with a premiership ring and even the Clive Churchill Medal to boot

Super League side Hull have signed England international Gareth Ellis on a three-year deal from Wests Tigers.

The 30-year-old former Leeds second row was a target for several Super League clubs after announcing he intended to return to England earlier than expected from Sydney.

Ellis still had a year to run on his Tigers deal but, despite impressing in Australia, has decided to return home in time for the next Super League season.

The three-times Wests Tigers players' player of the year will be joining up with new Hull boss Peter Gentle, who was Wests Tigers assistant coach until the end of last season.

"I was lucky to have a few clubs interested but I've been listening to Hull and to the ambition they have got and the prospects they're trying to put in place for the future, and the bottom line for me was that it was a great time to be involved with Hull FC," said Ellis.

Gentle was ecstatic to add a player of Ellis's quality to his squad.

"If we're looking to take this club to another level, we need the addition of one or two class players to bring out the best of the talented squad we currently have in place and we have definitely achieved that with the signing of Gareth," he said.

Hull are currently sixth in the 14-team Super League.

I remember Paul Sironen carrying the Balmain Tigers. I'm not sure who is/was the better player for the Tigers but I can't think of anyone who comes close in the NRL for a long time.

he was an outstanding player when he arrived at the tigers and he is leaving as an even ether one.
