Humphreys and Skando disappointed with Campbelltown's crowd

Or just something else for Magpie fans to Whine about…
Seriously, If you got every Magpie board member, fan and staff in the same room
You would not accumulate tally enough sensibilty to buy an Icecream from the Servo.
Mick L seems Very Passionate about bringing change and keeping the Magpies alive
and even he gets rubbished by our own...
It's beyond me?? The Organisation blames every one else for the Organisations insuffusiencies...
Everyone except the Organisation...
And the Problem with he Organisation is.... There isn't any!!
But don't let that stop you all from pointing the finger of blame!!
NOTHING BUT A COP OUT!!

There was nothing wrong with the crowd. Had we played Souths or the Sharks, they'd have pulled 5 thousand fans and with a crowd of 18 thousand there'd be no issue. Sorry but when you get 20 thousand to a game, they aren't all there supporting one club

dont recall the joint venture leaving tigertown or the spirtual home of the tigers leichhard oval when the 2 clubs joined forces , i live aprox the middle of the 2 grounds , i enjoy leichhardt oval so i go there , you go where you like , but dont try and crap on about campbelltown macarthur needing stronger presence and dump my old teams part of this joint venture , tigertown will always be around , leichhardt will always be around , this isnt the campbelltown tigers

There was more at Leichhardt on a cold Friday Night (Not long after work) against the Warriors… They're from a whole other country!!
I beg to differ there Gunners

They do have a bigger supporter base in Sydney then the Cowboys do given the amount of Kiwis around

The fact that there were 3 grades playing on the day, one of the curtain raisers was between the Foundation clubs, the NYC is one of the leading sides in that competition and the fact that we got a chance to see Benji V JT and the other Cowboys Origin stars then yes the crowd was a little disappointing to most but then I didn't attend, as much AS I would have like to.

Classic circular argument. The facts are these, the McCarthur region is home to 240,000 people, that's a a lot of working/middle class punters, classic RL fans. 13,000 is rubbish anytime. The marketing team need to implement and manage a programme that connects the punters to the team that represents their community. To ignore these people is as negligent as it is for the RL to ignore the 500,000 punters between North Sydney and the Central Coast

For those who think it has something to do with the decline of the Wests Premier League side or should I say lack of support, I think your dreaming. Bar a few old faithfuls the average punter who rocks up to a game would not even know we played in the premier league. They come for the main game and thats it, the days of making a day of it are gone people are time poor, its all about hit and run.

Their must be a good reason why people are not turning up to Cambo in their droves, really it should be a sell out every week when the team is on a roll. The area they draw their punters from is massive, do they support other teams or just not into the NRL. I think our CEO should get some serious market research underway

Bloody hell….its just Origin week.
Its happened before and will happen again.
The fact every game in rd 12 pulled extremely low crowds seems lost on most.

We usually get good crowds at both our traditional grounds....this is a massive over reaction to one game.

What do RL fans in Syd do when Origins in melb?
Go to the club, have dinner and watch there.
But a carton, invite some friend for a BBQ and watch the game
etc etc etc...it comes at a cost though and its usually the following round.

Isn't it WESTS tigers? Playing at campbelltown because of the wests presence at campbelltown? Or is that conveniently ignored or forgotten? Or just a thorn in the side to what WT has become - an inner west club??

WT plays at LO purely for the tradition of balmain, campbelltown may not be the spirtual home of the magpies but WT has a presence, successful leagues club thanks to the original wests magpies presence add to that a huge junior league base.

Yes, Wests has been its own worst enemy in the past. That is not the fault of balmain or WT. 4 main factors have led to where wests are now:

- nyc replacing nsw cup as 2nd tier nrl league. Nsw cup moved off nrl schedules along with its significance

- financial situation of balmain fc - forcing wt to bail them out affectively
- wests players not receiving any first grade players or graded juniors

- WT ceo and decision makers making WT inner west centric, tigers centric, not taking a serious presence in the south west or caring about the demise of a foundation club

you dont care about nsw cup or the status of the magpies fc at any level then any post shouldn't bother u. What most diehards want is a fair go for their old club and its role in the JV

Lol screaming from the stands were they? what was it 'how can you expect more games when people don't turn up'? yeah i realy buy the fact someone yelled that out :unamused:

Actually I said basically these exact words during the game.
Mind you I didn't yell them out but as my seat is directly behind the bench next to the 20's players and various officals, it's not too far fetched to believe they heard me.

Roll your eyes if you want but you don't know what everyone else is thinking or saying.

I never said i did. I'm not saying these words might not have been said in conversation, but i couldn't see anyone yelling that type of thing out like a sledge you would hear during the game. That would be seriously lame

You can't expect fans to show up and support our club when the club won't support there base team of the district

The avg fan, family out Campbelltown way wouldn't either give this a passing thought. I truly believe there are other factors around this. They need to do some research and find out why fans did not flock to see a WT team trying to get it's 5th win in a row and get it's roll on for the serious end of the season…

I agree
The Campbelltown Area is a great big mixture of people from all parts of sydney, young families looking for affordable housing and new estates they dont all support the Magpies or the the Tigers,so in turn they bring there other team loyaties to the District.

In fact I would be VERY surprised if you saw more BRET or Magpies NSW Cup games than me…
I DO care...
I DO support both sides...
But irrationality and a lack of common sense, Along with an extremely distorted version of the facts isn't
helping any of the magpies faithful!!
ever heard the sayingf "Don't bite the hand that feeds you"? Magpies believed WT's can't survive without them, Whilst believing they could survive without WT's
....... Well, We can all see how that's working out!!

The chronicle done lil parts on their article asking the locals y they weren't there some of the points were money they should b making family tickets cheaper food and drinks and that we dont get good games here saying wen was the last dragons v wests game here! Also i think they dont promote the game much here anymore u see a lil bit in the paper and thts bout it ! Also its not just the ctown locals job to fill the stadium whats wrong with all the ppl that go to our other stadiums come to ctown its easily accessible by transport and if u drive its not that hard and dont start with the i might come back to my car with something missing that happens anywhere the campbelltown area is a good area i think its a more safer area than most others! For our last trial game at ctown they were giving out cards at schools for kids free per adult ticket purchased those kinds of promotions are goin to get ppl through the gates

WT need a stronger presence in the macarthur area. Rugby League families and good junior talent. WT Basing themselves in concord and clinging onto the 'tigertown' (leichhardt/balmain) and spiritual home of leichhardt thing (promoted by media and some people in WT) its hardly a team that campbelltown can embrace. Regardless of being an old magpie fan or not. Mix that with nsw cup debacle (not to blame for lower nrl crowds) and often poor scheduling at campbeltown (cold monday nights with peak hour traffic) and you have a less than ideal mix
