Humphries-some positives

Humphries has copped a fair bit of stick recently and in some cases rightly so but I think in fairness some of the positives also need to be pointed out.
1\. The team has finished top 4 twice and missed the semis once under his leadership.
2\. He was actually able to land sponsors people have heard of and for more than 1 year ie Hyundai, Trend Micro and he made Harry cough up more $$$$ and become a major sponsor
3\. He was able to convince high profile players to come here (Tuquiri & Blair). whether they were the right choice is questionable but prior to Humphries arrival the only recent high profile player to join in the last 6 or so years was Ellis.
4\. It appears he was able to merge the state cup team which in my opinion for the good of the joint venture had to happen.

Yes he has made mistakes ie resigning Sheens for too long and you can blame him for the Beau Ryan and other contract debacles.
He has also had to react to things like Lui fairly quickly and hence I think in the Moltzen saga he had the clubs best interest in mind.
Comparisons to Greenberg are unfair as he doesn't have a leagues club throwing millions in and he has to placate board members & fans from two sides of the joint venture.

Add his acquisition of Steve Folkes, and the ever increasing (up till now) membership figures.

The sponsorships have been his Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon card

However I still fail to see the point of having a multi billionaire sponsor thats in it for the love of the club, (or half of it) more than the business side of things, who doesnt throw in a few bob extra here n there….we are always referred to as 'cash strapped'

...and that said, its really not much in three and a half years here

Have to disagree with you here. Money attracts these players. The Tigers have always always been open to english players as long as I have followed them. But I will say this Ellis was the only signing who proved his worth each weekend on the paddock.

What I do not understand about the Wests Tigers of recent years is their reluctance to nurture their youth and develop them into first grade players. If I was CEO of a sporting organisation that heavily relied on membership, I would do everything in my power to ensure these players were given every chance. To me it equates to membership numbers when local boys or long serving junior players take over the mantle in the premier grade.

No matter what happens over the next month I will always support the Wests Tigers, I just hope it is with a grin from ear to ear!

If he can get Sheens completely out the door,re-sign Farah and land one of Folkes,Walters or Brown as head coach, then he has my vote,he will have done exceptionally well..

He'll make up a lot of ground if he can get Farah re-signed

I cant believe what Im reading….

Im not going to write all my reasons again...read my '157' other posts detailing Humphreys' failures...

Worst CEO in the game!

After getting rid of Sheens, Ryan, Ayshford and Heighno (all positive and dead wood players), we have one left....One Stephen Humphreys.....Once hes gone we can move forward as a club!

Humpty's biggest failure is not the decisions he has made but they manner in which he has handled them…Surely he knew they didn't want Rhino beyond 2013 before the last game of the year!..

Humphries has done a really great job as CEO
1\. 4 games are now played at both Leichardt and Campbelltown as opposed to 3 before Humphries
2\. Made the semis twice and the one time we didn't he has moved on the coach
3\. Improved Sponsorship in both quality and $$
4\. Increased membership numbers and maintained crowds
5\. Our Under 20s won the comp this year
6\. Our NSW Cup team will be merged and this yr when effectivley merged we made the Grand Final
7\. Great effort in bringing through juniors in the last couple of years - Woods, Murdoch Masiala, Miller, Tedesco, Sironen, Groat, Simona have all made thier debut in the lastr 2 years from our juniors
8\. Sacked Robert Lui
9\. Managed to push the salary cap to its very limits every year
10\. Made the difficult decisions to move on some older players when many would have just left them and let the squad age and lost our best juniors

That is only 10 as its a nice round number but a fairly awesome job for mine

Im still concerned about the mishandling of the contract status of Moltzen, Fulton and Ryan and why that had to be played out in the media. Other than that, every point you've raised is valid.

- A positive yes.
2\. Made the semis twice and the one time we didn't he has moved on the coach
- Based on our player talent ask Sheens if this was good enough?
3\. Improved Sponsorship in both quality and $$
- Can not comment without the facts!
4\. Increased membership numbers and maintained crowds
- Battle for the West increased membership, and a general push towards all NRL supporters to join your club like they do in AFL!
5\. Our Under 20s won the comp this year
- Yes they did thanks Tod and co.
6\. Our NSW Cup team will be merged and this yr when effectivley merged we made the Grand Final
- Great effort and fell just shy.
7\. Great effort in bringing through juniors in the last couple of years - Woods, Murdoch Masiala, Miller, Tedesco, Sironen, Groat, Simona have all made thier debut in the lastr 2 years from our juniors
- This is the one I really want to look at. To develop junior talent into first grade talent is what we should be questioning. Woods and MM yes, the others no!
8\. Sacked Robert Lui
- Had to happen.
9\. Managed to push the salary cap to its very limits every year
- Spent way too much money on aging players who could no longer cut the grade.
10\. Made the difficult decisions to move on some older players when many would have just left them and let the squad age and lost our best juniors
- Please enlighten me more?

Sometimes you need heads to roll to achieve the desired outcome. The club needs a winning mentality not a best mates club!
