Happy me and simon played for the same junior club….they were a Wests junior club when I was there...Holman juniors

Personally I think this makes the Titans game a far more risky proposition for the WTs rd 1

You know the Titans are going to come out firing in their 1st home game to try and put some positive spin on their season

It's a possibility but I don't think so. My money is on the W Tigers.

Teams rise from tragedy , happens all the time

Who would of thought Penrith would of beaten Wests within a week of Ben Alexander dying ??

What happened at Titans was not tragedy but pure greed.

Me! Wests and now Wests Tigers are always on the end of these types of things happening, sadly.

I'm talking about the rest of the team , they are the poor buggers that will be running around Rd 1 Newtown

I thought we were pretty good things Rd 1 , but we will probably be favourites now 😱pen_mouth:

Mate no one played for Penrith that day No Geyer ,Brandy few others didn't play

I know, that's exactly what I'm saying. Teams can, and do, band together under extremely difficult circumstances often playing out of their skin! These things can also affect the opposing team just as much, psychologically, knowing they are playing a team in crisis. Call it what you will, but it happens all the time and we are quite often on the end of it, for some strange reason.

Hey happy , did you have some pot blow into your backyard ???
What flip said ^^^^^^

When you play teams that have been surrounded in dramas and controversy , and you go in thinking you'll beat them , that's when you'll get spanked !

I wouldn't call it a risk ?

NRL CEO Dave Smith said today he was angry and fed up with the minority of players who brought the game into disrepute.

He said the ARL Commission expected a tough stance to be taken against players who brought the game into disrepute – and that would happen.

Mr Smith stressed that the players served with notices to appear in court as part of the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission investigation into drug supply were entitled to the presumption of innocence in relation to any criminal charges.

But he said players were on notice that anyone engaging in criminal conduct could expect harsh punishment.

"The overwhelming majority of players do the right thing… youngsters look up to them and they do so much good work in the community," Mr Smith said.

"But we continue to have a small group of irresponsible players who engage in conduct which brings down our game.

"The message to those players is clear… if you bring the game into disrepute there will be consequences.

"We are not going to let a few players wreck our image and brand."

Mr Smith said there was no place for illicit and illegal drugs in the NRL.

"We know that Rugby League is a reflection of the rest of society so there will be people who stray from time to time but we will not tolerate serious misconduct which damages the game."

Mr Smith said the NRL remained committed to Rugby League on the Gold Coast.

"This is a key area for our game and we are determined to ensure our fans continue to have their own team on the Gold Coast," he said.

It appears Smith and the NRL are continuing to take a tough stance on these matters, and so they should..why should our game be seen as a game full of habitual negative publicity, drugs, bubblers, hallway crappers etc and the list goes on…
Our game is indeed a fantastic sport and the kids wishing to go to the elite level do not need to be tarred with this particular brush...albeit a small amount of offenders can and will stain the code as a whole....

Maybe if they started stripping competition points for clubs who have 3 strikes the clubs and players might all start showing more respect

Look at how Souths handled the Burgess Sutton issue , they didn't care and did everything in their powers to hide it

Bloody hell!
They may struggle to field a team:

Rugby league has been rocked by revelations representative players Greg Bird and Dave Taylor have been stood down by the Titans after being linked to the drug scandal engulfing the club. Bird and Taylor have been served with notices to appear in court surrounding the cocaine crisis which threatens to destroy the club. The pair join teammates Beau Falloon, Jamie Dowling and Kalifa Faifai Loa to be stood down by the club.

Troubled times of NRL's Titans

Two more Titans players have reportedly been charged over the cocaine crisis engulfing the NRL club. Kalifa Faifai Loa and former squad member Joe Vickery have been named to appear in court over the scandal, alongside Beau Falloon and fringe first-grader Jamie Dowling who were served with notices late last week.
.
Chaotic scenes ensued as the Gold Coast Titans flew home from their Cairns trial match amid speculation that the drug allegations scandal which has hit the club may deepen. Representative forward Dave Taylor was whisked to a car outside as a media pack crushed around him, the giant back-rower repeatedly saying "no comment" before being driven away. Fellow State of Origin players Greg Bird and Nate Myles also refused to comment on the scandal gripping the club as they walked out of the airport surrounded by cameras and microphones

Geez I feel sorry for Neil Henry , poor bastards just walked through the door .

This is bad news for the tigers.

We play them first up, and surely this will spur the titans on.

They will be invincible.

They wont have many players, but those there, will be immense.
