NRL has been drifting in the direction of the English Premier League for some years now where only a handful of teams are serious contenders every single season.

I think the better clubs are growing exponentially, they've worked out the professional era. Others clubs don't have that down pat.

Madge has to fix some serious issues which are killing us.

Inability to control the tackle and get two markers to most tackles.

Lazy marker defence the marker should be cutting down forward at the ankles on almost every play.

Lazy kick chase and a lack of speed to get to high kicks and put pressure on the opposition.

Spacing in the middle is too wide quick players like Meaney carve us up. It’s due to lack of athletic talent but can be covered up.

Nofa has to drop back on kick returns Douihei has no speed it costs us metered and gets dominated too often slowing our sets.

Lack of genuine line speed for 80 minutes in spurts we are good.

Not one repeat set today. Zero, nula, nolla... Big fat DONUT.

Fundamentals seem a bit off because they're not executing these very well. Can't build pressure without pinpoint lobs & grubberinos.

how a team that is knocking on the door of the 8's, leads by 16, against the team coming last, ends up only just winning by 1 point - what is wrong with this picture?

A fan questioning a win?

To be honest we scored on a high percentage of visits to the red zone. Benji almost scored on another and we kicked a field goal. Issue with this game was our lack of defence and field position after the 30th minute.

Vossy came up with probably a useless stat but said Wests Tigers led the NRL in converting inside the red zone to TRIES or something like that..

I agree folding in the middle and right edge was the issue today..

since most people think we wont win again id assume they arent going to watch or post. That will make this a better place to visit

Unfortunately posting and watching increase exponentially after losses..

Ain't that the truth.

We need Twal back in the middle defensively he makes a big difference. Our bench needs a big overhaul. Eiso, McIntyre, Blore, Reynolds on the bench next week would make the world of difference.

The Brooks Hail Mary bomb with no kick pressure is getting tiresome, seriously if it doesn’t work the first 50 times why do we persist?

to me there’s no better 5th tackle option than finding the grass and turning your opposition back 3 around. No idea why we don’t try it

It’s definitely tactical.
Doueihi and Marshall both did similar kicks.
It’s a halfway tactic. Gives us a 50/50 chance on the attempt but puts us in the best field position for defence.
You watch other teams that kick to find grass, they generally get the fullback flying in, scooping the ball and getting to the 30 for tackle one. Those teams can back their stronger defence to keep the attackers in check. We just can’t afford to give away that field position.

Teams that force repeat sets don't fold as easily as we do.

Flat track bullies

I think we're the opposite of flat track bullies, we struggle against the dud teams but aim up vs the good teams more often than not. That's our problem....bank some wins vs strugglers like Titans and NZ and we would make the 8.

It rarely ever works tbh, sometimes I think we’d be better off just finding the sidelines, catch a bit of a breather and reset our defense

I think many would say we are a dud team and that we rate ourselves higher than our opposition without any real claim. We don’t respect the teams that we think we are meant to beat and when they stand up to us we crumble. Still, I’m happy with the win and next week will tell us whether we are a top 8 team or not.

No issue with the conversion rate. It's actually good this year and up from last year. But we lost the possession battle AGAIN today which is why the game got close. We had to make more tackles than them(blows my mind but it's true)...

We attempted 6 grubbers for no repeat set(except for benji's lucky deflection). 7 bombs for no repeat set. We're not building pressure that tires the opposition and saves our legs. I think a lot of our missed tackles that led to tries were from players under fatigue.

My point is that with more repeat sets our players are fresher and make those effort tackles, whereas the opposition would be the ones on their heels suffering from fatigue.
