as to why we can't change the way we play to maximise whatever strengths we have Surely our roster is not that bad that they can't execute something..anything!...a little different to what has been dished up for the last few years. You would think that there is a different way of defending, different options on the last kick. Think for example of how "clever" the Storm players are at stripping the ball in defense, and how they know when to let go before giving away a penalty. Of course, we've spoken about players IQ, etc. at lengths but I still can't quite get why we persist with a model that has well and truly run its course and just seems to be dusted off for every game. In any situation, when things are not going well, after a while, you have to change something if you want a different result. But not us, it seems?

Could it be that the majority of players are relatively new to the team? My understanding is, that until recently our reserve graders did things differently, behaved like a totally different team. They still wear different jerseys and call themselves a different name, so for the purpose of discovery, they are, or were until recently, in fact alien to the West’s Tigers training system.
Chooks and others don’t seem to have this issue.
It’s often said RL is a simple game and I agree. But when it comes to the administration of the club, if you want your team to win, then the club’s admin needs to have that organisational skill to match.

I agree that the team doesn’t adapt to changing circumstances, but overall they are inexperienced and still learning. Apart from local juniors Brooks and Nofa, our team is made up of those who either couldn’t get a bench spot at their previous club or actually made it as far as the bench.
How many times did Don Bradman hit that golf ball against the wall with a stump?
It’s the only way to get that good that your muscle memory knows no other way, particularly when it’s time to respond under pressure. That’s when the professionals step up.

There's blokes in this squad who have played Origin. Blokes who have played well over 100 first grade games.
They should be capable of thinking on the run by now and conjuring up some special effort to win games.

Our problem for a long time has been desire not tactics. Footy is a simple game.
