I think Austin is a runner

While he was great at 6 in State Cup earlier this year, i feel at NRL level Austin loses his way just a little when at 5/8 at this level.

Im starting to think he needs to be in a position where he thinks run first pass second.

Worth a try at right centre IMO

I don't get you Austin haters. Robbie does it. Yeh that's fine. Brooks does it, yeh he is a champ. Austin does it, he is a no hoper.

Did he steal your lolly pop as a kid

Hmmmm i cant see any haters so far in this thread mate.

Im a big Austin fan, just observing that some players go better when they think less amd Blake may fall in to this category.

From what I see, he is in the position for one game and your making your verdict. I think I got it right, because I didn't see him do too much wrong tonight.

No not necessarily. Im basing this on a number of games both at 5/6 and in other positions. He has played 6 for us a few times now and every time he has gone good but not as good as other positions. I could possibly be jumping the gun, but ATM it seems the less thought and organising he has to do the better he plays.

i personally thought he did well , he was one of only attacking options out there, at least he gave it a 110 percent,

Austen showed a lot more than Brooks in the playing making department tonight, he tried and probed all night. The whole team went well in patches, the problem outside the no6 their is nobody who can run the hundred in under 20 seconds except for the n01 who should still be playing u20s. Also the team has been coached to forget the attack and concentrate on defense

Austin's best attacking feature is his running game, hence why he was tried at backrow at Penrith, but he is definitely a running five-eighth. He's a gun. I wouldn't mind seeing how he goes in the centres though if that's how we get Moses a go at five-eighth. I don't think Moses is five-eighth at the expense of Austin. Austin is too good.

Brooks is actually really fast and Lawrence does look like he's got a portion of his speed back. Haven't seen him in a foot race in ages but he looks like he has heaps good leg speed again… But you are definitely right for the most part.

Glad you think he's a runner because most great 5/8s are/we're runners (Daley, Fittler) he also has good timing and awareness and great touch, he's got too much of a 'footy brain' that playmaker type of footy nous to be put in the centres, he's got half written all over him.

That's what I don't get. I see him play and get the impression that he has a footy brain, he knows when to back himself and is a good percentage on that call, he structures a good attacking run. He can kick and give plenty of option for others.

Then I see threads like this talking as if he is a dope. It isn't the first but it seems to be the same group of people. What am I missing.

Now I see why you were so defensive of Austin in my other post. Mate it's called opinion, and why are you trying to change my opinion or tell me I'm wrong. I don't mind him at all but you think others have hatred towards him. How do you come to this conclusion. You have to accept opinions, right or wrong. Like I said to me he only has utility value. Now wake up to yourself, is he your wannabe lover or something.
