I think the issue is Sheens

The bloke presided over our most complete performance in the last 5 years.

He is sticking up for the team and his players. Seems a little short sighted to call him a fuddy duddy.
Showing experience as a coach I thought.. taking a big win to try to focus on future calls for our team instead of piling on over the top expectations of his younger players. Knows full well what a win like this can do to turn not just our team but the whole club around. He could have spent the whole time talking about how it was his and the coaching staffs vision all along and bask in much deserved praise, but immediately heads it off and remains focused. As he said they're going to have a big night but tomorrow we are back in to it. Only some of our supporters would find a negative on him after a game like that !

I think the wood spoon and the round 23 loss to chooks are possibly still in the minds of people.
Chooks were not playing well but managed to score 72 points.
Of course ou could argue if we had Brooks and Nofa in the team that day we could have won, but I'm not so sure. 😉

Just saw a tweet showing us attempt the exact same play that got bateman a try in round 3 just goes to show decent attacking plays take awhile to be properly drilled and executed

No coach would do that

Yeah, they had all off-season to get it right.
Looks to me like they all met on round 1 game day. What the hell were they doing all offseason?

None of the spine participated in preseason training. Brooks was recovering from injury, Koroisau was rested, don’t know if Bula was training with the nrl squad? Bateman was also not in Australia. Us fans like things to fall in place during a few weeks , while coaches’ plans are more longer term. Unless of course if the board are undermining the coach, then the longer term goals are discarded.

This week is the best example of the fact Wests Tigers coaches are fighting with both arms tied behind their back. When Benji came in Sheens said Benji was told that the club would not sign anyone he didn’t want for 2025. His first priority was to secure a better player in the halves with the much publicised pursuit of Munster, Moses, Pearce and even Johnson. Plan E was Josh Schuster which looks to have also failed (thank god). It’s in the news today that the club is even struggling with their plan F, Luke Brooks. You couldn’t make this stuff up. 😂

The man who shoots every coach down is Justin Pascoe, wish he would go close deals at Burger King or something.

Sheens went on a rampage at the post-match presser. Api looked sheepish sitting there while he was rambling on about things no one asked about.

I’ve listened to this three times but I’m not feeling well and my concentration levels are low right now. What exactly is Tim complaining about? Something to do with Luciano being offside?

No, but I thought that this weekend when they showed the coaches box and Tim was standing in the back ground next to Robbie who was grinning like a Cheshire Cat, but Benji was all game face.
It looks like they are getting ready for asap take over from Benji.
It's been very very clear for a while now Benji is calling the shots on game day this and next season is basically for them to learn as much as they can hands off with Sheens supporting by doing the heavy media lifting taking the heat off them.

Sheens is managing a very very tough situation very well IMO.
Putting early seasons results aside the dynamics of our club at the best of times is dramatic whilst having to bring a rookie up to speed coaching wise is just next level. Have zero doubts the mental/physical effort would be extremely high whilst having to also build a brand new roster and bring kids onto the journey.

I actually think Macca & Lee are the big issues here.

When Macca was here previously his recruitment sucked, if you annoyed him as a youngster you were punted despite how good you were, when he was at the Bulldogs they recruited even worse under his watch which is saying something.

Lee just has zero footy idea it's clear with his bursts that he is more focused on his profile than the actual club & has zero trust in those to do his job.

I'm hoping things to change over the next 6-12mths with Fulton leading the charge (he is a real recruitment operator) especially if results are changing. Hartigan was the real deal and was a scape goat of poor management here.

Regarding the recruit offers:

Munster was never coming, he was never leaving Storm.
Moses was never coming given how bad Brooks (his best mate) was copping it & how bad we started
Pearce was never coming mid season, why leave France & success to come last in Sydney
Johnson was never going to pack his family up again for 2yrs & then go back home again after COVID
Schuster was never a discussion, Manly weren't letting him go this year anyway.

Brooks, Sheens loves but reality is he has been absolutely hammered so why stay and be unhappy without clear support plan around him? His family LOVES the club and he is a Wests Tigers through and through but without support and with Api having a MO for 25 why stay.

It's interesting that our most high profile half in our clubs history who takes over the coaching reigns will struggle to have any halves on the books for 24 let alone 25 (who knows what happens to AD also).

Anyone who really thinks Tim is not coaching this team and Benji is calling the shots are seriously delusional!!

Just go to a training session and see how hands on Tim is with the players as individuals (as he always has been)!!

Benji is learning the ins and outs of game-day coaching by running the sideline comms - but Tim is the overseer and primary tactician!
