I'm not going to bother with the majority of the OP - the issues have been done to death. Plus this forum does a great job in revisionism...
Sorry guys , i never meant to upset any one, just giving my opinion as a non tiger fan….
When I say Benji has done 'SFA' since 2005 i am comparing him with the likes of Cronks, Thurstons, Smiths, Andrew Johns and Lockyers of rugby league world.
I am sure you fans rate him as highly as the legends of the game i just mentioned and as far as Benji is concerned he thinks he is better than all of em. When you pay a player the salary which is in the top brakcet in the game since 2005 you expect far much better performance than what he has delivered in last 8 years.
I and other people wont bother if he was on an average salary, ...cos he he has been an average player in last 8 years whenever he is fit (that is another topic to discuss altogether).
and please dont compare him to Barba who definitely has issues but certainly is not eating the big chunk of salary cap as benji has been for last 8 years and has already over achieved at such young age.
May be you can compare benji to T-Rex for whom Bulldogs bent over backwords and threw money at him as it looks like at the moment with his performance, but even T-rex can be excused for being new to the club.... again dont be offended or upset... I am only trying to give an opinion as a person who doesnt really care what West Tigers do as long as they lose all the time to Doggies.
You're certainly not upsetting anyone - you've got an opinion and that's cool. My post was more aimed at the shopping list of issues contained in the OP… As for Benji he's clearly not in the same league as the people you mention and he's going like a busted at the moment, 2010-11 he was pretty good and I think his try assist stats last season were close to the best in the NRL. For me the issue is that in 2005 when Prince was half Benji was more of a ball runner. Since Prince left Sheens was obsessed with him become a ball player - he rarely runs at the line which is crazy as he is most dangerous when the defence aren't sure of his intentions. As it is now they just need to cover his runners.
T-Rex is more comparable to Adam Blair I'd suggest.,,
