Benji is in shocking form at the moment. However I don't agree he's done "SFA" since 2005…

I'm not going to bother with the majority of the OP - the issues have been done to death. Plus this forum does a great job in revisionism...

Sorry guys , i never meant to upset any one, just giving my opinion as a non tiger fan….

When I say Benji has done 'SFA' since 2005 i am comparing him with the likes of Cronks, Thurstons, Smiths, Andrew Johns and Lockyers of rugby league world.

I am sure you fans rate him as highly as the legends of the game i just mentioned and as far as Benji is concerned he thinks he is better than all of em. When you pay a player the salary which is in the top brakcet in the game since 2005 you expect far much better performance than what he has delivered in last 8 years.

I and other people wont bother if he was on an average salary, ...cos he he has been an average player in last 8 years whenever he is fit (that is another topic to discuss altogether).

and please dont compare him to Barba who definitely has issues but certainly is not eating the big chunk of salary cap as benji has been for last 8 years and has already over achieved at such young age.

May be you can compare benji to T-Rex for whom Bulldogs bent over backwords and threw money at him as it looks like at the moment with his performance, but even T-rex can be excused for being new to the club.... again dont be offended or upset... I am only trying to give an opinion as a person who doesnt really care what West Tigers do as long as they lose all the time to Doggies.

You're certainly not upsetting anyone - you've got an opinion and that's cool. My post was more aimed at the shopping list of issues contained in the OP… As for Benji he's clearly not in the same league as the people you mention and he's going like a busted at the moment, 2010-11 he was pretty good and I think his try assist stats last season were close to the best in the NRL. For me the issue is that in 2005 when Prince was half Benji was more of a ball runner. Since Prince left Sheens was obsessed with him become a ball player - he rarely runs at the line which is crazy as he is most dangerous when the defence aren't sure of his intentions. As it is now they just need to cover his runners.

T-Rex is more comparable to Adam Blair I'd suggest.,,

Whilst I think Benji is in absolutely terrible form at the moment and should be dropped to reserves if the salary cap and injury list allows us to replace him. I would like to defend Benjis time with us before the last couple of years, before Benji I had never seen my team play finals (at least being old enough to remember) and whilst Benji wasn't the type of player who could lead the tigers to constant success on his own,he has shown that with the right mix of players around him he could play a pretty darn exciting style of footy that was a lot of fun to watch and support. I agree he is going like a busted at the moment but that doesnt mean he is as some people are suggesting the worst thing to happen to the tigers. Current form doesnt change the joy he has brought to my weekends over the most successful period in wests tigers short history, yeah i know it hasn't all been roses but gee its been fun and if this is the end of benji as a tigers star then i hope his previous years here arent fogotten, because not every pass of his has gone into the stands, some have been absolutely magical and left me smiling for the rest of the week.

So you were talking about Barba….did you see todays game? Made you look like a joke.

Funnily enough I was being sarcastic.

Im a fan of Barba.

I just reckon its poor form going onto other fans forums and bagging out there players.

I don't do it….and don't expect to cop it.....hence the sarcastic response.

Benji will not be offered anywhere near the dollars the paper and his manager are talking ,probably half .Humpheys should be shown the door along with Ronald.

Why? he's not saying anything 95% of the rest of this forum isn't saying. Who knew you of all people could be so precious

Unlike dogs like you…...I stick up for my own when outsiders hit.

You like to prove yer little point, same as yer gf Ink,no matter what.

Im a Tigers fan first, and I would even side with a complete worm like yourself, rather than try and score some points by siding with an outsider.

Good day.

Yep. As Hawkie would say there a lot of bums on this forum. Benji has done enough for this club to deserve some patience.

Agreed, really feel for Bunji atm…took a lot of guts to come out and say what he did.And the crap he cops off here from the demented is ridiculous.

I hope he doesn't think that most fans feel like that....its just not true.

Barba is killing it at the moment…..think I will post in the Kennel how crap he is,and how is a pisstank gambler womaniser who doesnt have his heart in the footy anymore.

You should relase him post haste.

Good luck this year.

He's returning from serious personal issues, not to mention it was only last yr he was destroying sides on the field resulting in him winning the Dally M, whats Benji's excuse, his best mates had to move to another club? :bawling

Besides being cut over a non-supporters evaluation of our supposed superstar 5/8, your reply doesn't make a lick of sense

If I am not mistaken, most if not all on this forum were screaming for Chris Lawrence to be signed to a long term deal during 2010 season.

The guy was in line to become a NSW and Australian representative player…..He stayed loyal to the team which gave him a start as a schoolboy, both Souths and the dogs were after him.

What happened a couple of days after his deal was signed was an absolute tragedy, it has stuffed him as we all now know. :frowning: :frowning:

Benji is a Wests Tigers legend, I really think he is missing Sheens, time will tell if he ever gets back to his best.

AS for Blair, well now that's a different story, could not care less if he plays out his days in the NSW cup, the guy is a dud

Now we are dogs?

I would like to see benji start playing some consistent football not 1 good 4 bad like hes been dishing out for to many years now….for the money hes on he needs to pick his act up.

Making no excuses anymore for the guy we are in dire straits at the moment.

Maybe a 1 year contract extension to see how things go...if he doesnt want that then he can go

Find it funny that a Bulldogs supporter is "concerned" for our club and it's players when in all reality the Dogs aren't going a whole lot better as a club and individuals. They have a much better roster than ours and a hell of a lot less injuries.
Keep your sympathy for your own club Dog Man. Thanks all the same.

fadetoblack? they're at better odds to win the premiership than manly and are sitting 11th on the table. They're doing a WHOLE lot better than us.

I'll bump myold thread up after Stephen Humphreys resigned!

To those of you that were complaining that Benji was brilliant and wanted me to lay off him, HE THEN GOT BENCHED! I TOLD YOU SO!

To those of you that were complaining that Stephen Humphreys was doing a good job and wanted me to lay off him, he resigned because he knew he was doing a pathetic job and couldnt handle it, HE RESIGNED! I TOLD YOU SO!

Trust me, if I were running this club, I would turn it around in 3 years starting with getting rid of the EGO's and implementing KPI's for everyone!

Dont let the door hit you on the way out Humphreys! Actually, let it hit you! You've ruined us!

You dont READ here, do you?
You clearly only post about yourself and your thoughts.
If you read others thoughts, you'll see you are part of a majority.
You told us nothing …we all (mostly) been saying the same thing.

DINK - I was ALWAYS the MINORITY mate!

Everyone started to change their opinion and now what I have been saying for AAGGEEESSS IS THE MAJORITY, hence the titleI TOLD YOU SO!

Understand…Look Be a good little boy and I'll teach you more ok? ppfftttt

Wow!….

I'll start by thanking the Bulldogs supporter for giving us his 5 cents worth. Truth be told I'd suggest that the Bulldogs contribution to Rugby League over the recent past hasn't been anything to write home about. Their contribution to the Wests Tigers being Terry Lamb (and to an extent Steve Noyce) coincided with our darkest period. Thanks Bulldogs Man, appreciate your opinion, but we'll sort ourselves out on this one.

On to 'I told you so'....

Decision-makers make decisions based on a board decision or the information they have to hand at the time. It's not an exact science and sometimes things go wrong. But you need to have the courage of your convictions when you make those decisions. I don't agree with every decision that is made by my board but I enact them. Stephen Humphreys didn't decide who was going to be signed or re-signed for that matter in isolation. There was a sign off process, (I'm assuming there is good governance now - that wasn't always the case). But Stephen Humphreys has the courage of his convictions and has fallen on his sword. No bitching, no carry-on, he's out and will stay on until his replacement is found so the club isn't left in the lurch.

Let's move on to Target No2, Benji Marshall. The guy is a superstar make no bones about it. The Tigers wouldn't have been Premiers in 2005 without him. He has been unbelievably courageous in fighting back from injury after injury and contributes massively to the Tigers brand. He's out of form, injured and playing behind a pack of youngsters. Let's give him his due and make a judgement at the end of the season as opposed to 10 games in.

Everybody has bad seasons when the stars don't align for whatever reason. You just have to ride it out and know there are better days ahead.

A very wise man once said, "No-one has ever erected a statue to a critic"

Here's to better days ahead.
