If Melbourne lose....?

So if Melbourne lose I’m curious to know do you guys reckon Cameron will retire, I read reports somewhere that the reason he hasn’t announced anything is that if they lose he’ll wanna go again which makes sense .... practically a certainty that he’ll retire if Melbourne win

This leaves me at crossroads, my hatred for Cleary is so strong that I’m not sure if I want Penrith to win however giving us a stronger chance to get back Grant than have Ivan lose with his son at Penrith while also guaranteeing Grant goes back to Melbourne

Intrigued to know how the forum feels about this?

I’m with you in my sentiments too teddy.

I share your hopes that Grant may become a longer-term Tiger. But, if Smith decides to stay at the Storm, that activates a clause for Harry to negotiate with other clubs (from my understanding). It's not certain that he would return to the Tigers. He may well choose to go elsewhere.

That would be harder to cop than him staying at Melb.

Don’t be riding your emotions on the hope it might keep Grant here. He’s gone. People need to start accepting it.

It's not just that though, Cam playing on could mean a number of things.

Harry could very well get another loan spell, potentially with us. Then there's B Smith who may make himself available.

And yes, we don't necessarily need a hooker, but it will cause some movements all round.

Anyway, I don't see Cam Smith playing on - win or lose. If they do lose though and scummy Penrith win it all, I'm going to be filthy.

I think the Storm will win and Smith will retire which probably means that Brandon and Harry stay at the Storm. Penrith winning might see Cam go around one more time, but it doesn’t mean Harry will come to us. Unfortunately, I believe his tenure with us will have shown him that the worlds his oyster and he can go anywhere and demand whatever he wants. In this scenario I am sure Grant will choose the best team for his future career and as one-eyed as I am that isn’t the Tigers.

Why wouldn’t he choose us? He has stated he really enjoys working under Madge.
He is a good enough player to not have his career hampered (Farah) and we will get better, he would know this.
He has already been spoken about at SOO level, so it hasn’t done him any harm being here.

What will be interesting is what the Storm will look like without Cam Smith, they seem to be losing a few more now as well, they may start to lose there shine and may not be an attractive destination as they have been.

I can see him starting pre-season training with Melbourne and some of you still not giving up hope he’ll be here in 2021

I think it’s pretty much a certainty that if he leaves he’ll stay with us, plays a good style under this system and has been embraced significantly by us fans

I’d happily guarantee it, that’s how confident I am

However, all relies on Smith unfortunately

They lost Slater and Cronk two of the best ever and are still very good. One thing about Melbourne is they always have a plan and they always have someone coming through, and that’s proven in how good Harry is and he was their THIRD CHOICE. Just ridiculous.

They’ve essentially used two rejects from other clubs in Paps and Hughes and turned them into top quality players to replace two players who were seemingly impossibly to replace, look at how Roosters struggled to replace Cronk.

Despite what you think of Melbourne the way their operate their club and team is just brilliant, Bellamy is a master coach.

While you're absolutely right, historically - I feel like things will change once Bellamy departs, which sounds as that could be soon too.

Slater and Cronk were great players, but Cam Smith is almost another coach on the field. His loss will be bigger IMO, add Bellamy's loss and it could well be a different Storm in a couple years time.

You may be right TW, but I get the feeling his stint with us has given him a taste for success and he might want more. Grant could choose to be surrounded by quality players in a leading club that is willing to pay him top dollars now - with us there’s a long hard road to get to that place and it’s full of uncertainty. I think we have opened his eyes to all of his options and he has the nature and confidence to explore what the NRL has to offer. Also another possibility is perhaps, if he has the choice, that he may move back to sunny QLD (beautiful one day, perfect the next!).

Replacing Bellamy will be harder than replacing any of those players. He is one of the best coaches ever no question about it and one of the major reasons they’ve been so successful. He turns average blokes into top level players and the system he’s got going there is incredible.

Whatever coach comes in would be silly if they didn’t use all the exact same strategies as Bellamy. Will definitely be interesting to see how they cope when it happens but as always I’m sure they have a plan and I don’t see them doing a broncos and appointing some terrible coach on a whim

Their bigger problem will be when Bellamy retires which has been reported at the end of next year. If he stays on in a coaching director role they will be ok - if he walks away from the club i think they will suffer badly.

I would rather miss out on Harry ( I personally think he is going to stay with the Storm ) than see Cleary and his son celebrate a Premiership. I use to like the Panthers and never thought I would hope the Storm win but my disdain for him grew more when he blew the kiss at Bankwest. Like to see him cry on Sunday night.

What sort of an ignoramus is Ivan Cleary @Sully? to blow kisses to a Wests Tigers supporter after doing the dirty on Us by walking out on his contract.
A half decent person would have copped it on his chiny chin chins rather than being low enough to retaliate by blowing kisses.
I really hope that bit of revulsion is played on the big screen at all our games V Penriff riff raff.
RE your "like to see him cry on Sunday night"....so would I....you betyuh I would....cry because he has been humiliated.
As @TYGA said "Melbourne will end the game by half time. One sided victory is coming".
