If Miller Gets First Crack At 7......

How much time will you give him to gel with team and develop into our first choice half before you crack it and start calling for his head??

I seriously doubt we'll see his best in the first season. As long as he shows glimpses of his potential I'm happy for him to be a passenger for at least the 2012 season and possibly most of 2013.

Very hard to know. Like u say, if he shows glimpses, then id be prepared to stick with him all season. We stuck with Lui for two years based on him showing the potential, so if Miller can do the same, im prepared to say we stick with him through some bad moments, becasue i dare say, his bad moments wont be anywhere near as bad as Lui. i think he will be a more solid halfback for us.

I just hope Miller can cope if given first shot at halfback
In an ideal world we would probably leave it until 2013 to make him a starting half back
It would be a shame to ruin him because he was thrown in too deep too early
Then we would be in strife

One thing we can expect is some people here will shoot him down any chance they get just to have a whinge about something.

He deserves at least as much time as Lui did in order to settle down and play his natural game IMO.

I'll give him the time he needs as in my eyes he will be a superstar and the perfect balance for both Robbie & Benji. I've only onced thought Robert Lui should be hooked. After about 4 games of double digit missed tackles, I felt he needed time in Reggies to re-build his technic and confidence. In the end, he cme good and think he wouldve been close to one of best performers over the 28 weeks of our year.

On Miller, many people blew up after his game against the Titans when he kicked the ball out on the full. Me… Well I thought it was a great play and show'd maturity beyond his years. Sadly, as is the case on a RL field, not all plays come off. This kid has it, I just hope Benji allows him to play to his strengths!

Life aint a bed of roses and your thread isnt exactly oozing with positivity either, its a somewhat negative thread.
How long will you give him?

Its a difficult question.

E/W Humpty talk suggests lui may still be here next year.
Who is fullback?
The balance of the team needs to be known first, his attack and defense needs scrutinising, he'll have minders there.
I imagine he'd take a back seat for most of the year, 2nd year Sheens would urge farah & marshall to allow him to take more control

Does anyone for example see him getting 6 to 8 rounds, being dropped to reserve grade then brought back later????
Sheens doesnt work like that.
He has his main squad worked out long before trials, the main 17 if all fit usually stay there all year.
Miller may come off the bench at first…who knows?

I dont even know if he's in the mix at this stage....look at Lazarus, Mullaney, Chase in the past....all highly rated here yet where are they now?

Like many I like watching a footballer develop into a fine player, it is a big bonus if he is a Wests Tiger, having watched Miller this year, Sheens has a fair bit of work to do with him, which would have started if the plans are to move him up. There are a few 'ifs' at the moment however if he gets a go next year then hopefully he takes his chance and it works.

I expect Miller's defence to be better than Lui's…I think he has a handy kicking game already...he just probably needs to learn to read the game and situations....

Well sheens can't be doing to much wrong if those players have gone
On to do nothing. If you look at the players we have let go over the last 5-6 years there are not many who have gone into bigger and better things.
Lucky to be 3 or 4 players

miller has had a season at the wests tigers and i would expect him to know the players and what is expected of himself now.so he will go well better than a lot of people think . then dont we have humble from parramatta i thought i read on this forum he can play half or 5/8

My point - is Miller in the same boat as the players I mentioned.

Miler's defence is not better than Lui's if it had been the NYC team would have finished a lot higher on the ladder. His an organising half back something the NRL team need. His someone who knows what to do on the last tackle.

I think he will go better at the top level because that's how he sees himself a top 25 player not an NYC player. His just got that attitude thing about him…call it confidence if you like.

He trained all year with the NRL team and towards the second half of the year he had that I dont really want to be here look about him. I know he was carrying a groin injury during that period.
I guess that's why he keeps getting picked for the rep teams because he performs on the big stage even though his weekly form is not consistent.

If Lui goes get punted and Miller becomes the new halfback i think we will see Farah dominate the playmaking for the start of the year and Miller to get more control towards the end of the season, if he gels with the team.

My only concern is his defence. I think his "style" is more to our needs than Lui's, being more level headed and all.
I think he will defend between Aysford and either Blair or Ellis. That will help minimise he weakness

Maybe if he can adopt a 'Ray Thompson of the Cowboys' approach to basically his first full season of NRL, where he is used more as an observer and follower to what the senior playmakers (Benji and Robbie) do, then he could perhaps go okay in 2012\. But I seriously think he will still need another year of development, whether that be in NYC or state cup…..after all.....he is only 20, and this year I think was his first year at the Tigers??

If he starts the year there, he'll most likely finish it there.

He is a talented kid who can fill that organising role that has been missing since Prince left.

I'm willing to be patient, however, given the time that has been accommodated to Lui and now he may get the heave-ho, I understand if some would be a little impatient with his development if he doesn't come out all guns blazing.

I thought Miller was reasonable without looking spectacular in his NRL appearances. I don't recall him doing too much wrong but he was hardly carving up. I suspect he will be much better once he gets a feel for the pace of first grade and gets some combinations going. Unless things go really bad, if the WT decide Miller is the halfback they need to give him enough time to do that. At least 5 rounds and probably 10.

Of course we all seem to be assuming that Rob Lui will not be with us next season :exclamation: If he isn't then I think we should stick with young Miller. He seemed really confident when he played in some games this season, and we should be giving some of the up and coming youngsters a chance at proving themselves in first grade
