If the decision was yours....

To re-sign or move Potter on at the end of the yr and you had to make the decision right now, what would you do?

Naturally atm you would re-sign him, but also atm you don't have the luxury of knowing how the rest of the yr will play out.

Last year was a right off, simple as that. He was coaching a team that he walked into, not a team that he selected. He has shown this year imo that he has what it takes. I would wait 4-6 weeks, if things keep going the way they are, then resign him on another 2 year deal.

There has been a few decisions of Potters i have disagreed with…..i'd say about 10%. With Sheens i disagreed with 90%. So im happy with Potter.

purely on the turn around in attitude I want him around a bit longer.
That sort of aggression is something we have not had ever in WT colours and I love it.

On the surface this does seem like a stupid question to ask, but things can change really quickly. We lose our next 3 (god forbid) the knives would be out.

As the saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day. Wests Tigers are certainly heading in the right direction with Potter. The team is building well and there is no logical reason why we would lose our next 3 in a row.

We have to make a decision pretty soon- before halfway mark, our current players as well as future players would want to know who the coach is next year.

How can we expect to retain tedesco if he doesn't know who he'll be playing under next year?

I'd sign him now, no worries at all.

Farah believes we are heading in the right direction.
The new guys that Potter had a hand in are performing well. The young guys are fitting in exceptionally well.

However, the best decision Potter has made is getting rid of Simmons and bringing in Kidwell.

We will never afford a "super" coach like Bennett or Bellamy so a solid performer like Potter who is not a novice because of his ESL record fits the bill.

I'd wait, but I think most of us can now see the type of football he wants the Wests Tigers to play. There's still some ball movement which is good to see, but I'm liking the fact we're a lot more direct and have some good grunt off the bench to keep us rolling forward when Galloway and Woods have a breather.

I really don't think his job should hinge on whether we make the 8 or not. Sheens didn't get us there in 03 or 04 either, but he had us going in the right direction. Even if we narrowly miss out, but the signs are good, he deserves another couple yrs to show us he can finish the job.

Well I wouldn't swap him for Bennett or Bellamy.

Bennett is a mercenary and Bellamy is fast becoming a foul mouthed has been.

Potter is loyal, been taking a lot of crap from everyone last year when it was not his team or coaching staff.

He got rid of Simmons who was as good a hooker as he was a defensive coach, Thank God for that decision.

I remember people saying he needs to win 2 to 3 of the first 8 - well he has done that against 2 of the favourites and the competition leaders.

Reasonable mitigating circumstances for losing against the Warriors etc.

If they do not sign him after what the Team has shown so far - I think they are procrastinators.

Saints need a new coach and maybe the Cows etc.,

What does it take to convince some people?

I would have been happy for him to get another year over the off-season as I thought the shoots of new growth were there to see. We had a horror run with injuries and the youngsters were responding to him.

He also dealt well with the Benji situation, where I think the benching was as far as he was allowed to go. If he had Sauce or even Gavet available to him for the first fifteen odd rounds last year, his position would most probably have never been in question.

He deserves another year.

I reckon wait till around round 10 and if we are still going good then re-sign him for 3 years not to long not to short juuuuust right.

The team is competitive and playing entertaining footie. The team also appears to have much more cohesion in playing styles and in relationships. The forwards are a pack, the backs are scoring points, the spin is getting us nice and direct.

Everything appears to be improving at a good pace. With injuries to key personnel there is little we can do.

His selections have been pretty decent too, as is his bench rotation.

Looking at super coaches Robinson and Macguire whose teams are both struggling, as is Bennetts and one really must consider also whether anyone on the market is better than what Potter would be.

Kidwell and Payten have also be great additions to the coaching ranks.

I think we should extend his contract here, things appear to be progressing.

I'd wait a little longer but it's been good to see what he has been able to do when he's picked his own crew. Even with the poor performances last year, he's turned Teddy, Sirro, Ava, Sue, Gavet and many more into decent first graders.

I've seen enough to resign him, stability will help with resigning existing players and new Players, without knowing who the coach is, those things are hard
