**Definitely a positive start, although given the same power I think Potter would've done the same.**

Still I'm excited about the direction our club is taking & looking forward to how this translates on the field!

Idk about that, he didn't even drop under performing players. I don't think he had the personality to be an NRL coach. Coaches need to be bastards sometimes, and make some tough decisions. I don't think Potter had it in him to be a bastard.

he was given little power, and the second tier cap continuously handcuffed his ability to draw players. As well as injuries obviously.

He bought 5 ordinary non first graders .Potter had his crack .injuries came and he never had the players who could back him up when needed …Taylor has started well , but he has to improve our playing ranks to take us to the next level .

I heard potter didn't say a word to brooks during the last 6 rounds… Now that's coaching!

Look, I'm sorry to pull you up on your contribution but you can't just come out and make outlandish claims like this if you can only back it up with "I heard"! Where did you hear it? Who did you hear it from?

Posts like yours only serve to bring this forum down to an unacceptable level so please think before you post.

Agree sideline. When some people on here start saying things like "I heard" and "People in the know" don't believe any of it. Unless they back it up with proof, facts etc.

Come on guys, it's the Wests Tigers Forum not the Wests Tigers Almanac.

Really? Never would've known that…

I'm going to reserve my judgement till around round 12 next year. Talk is cheap and so far he (JT) has taken the necessary and long overdue steps. The word impressed IMO is a bit premature. When we play tough and defend well I will be impressed.

yeh the word 'impressed' might be a bit premature. mayer was VERYY impressive when he started, we were happy with potter benching benji and playing miller in 2013\. jt hasnt even started to train with the team yet so i think moss is the one behind these changes tbh.

MAyer has screwed in in 2 areas Tedesco contract saga and the Farah saga… Apart from that hes done well

I don't think he screwed up with Tedesco… We ended up retaining him for a lot less money than looked like being the case. I'd say Tedesco screwed up by signing with the raiders in the first place. Water under the bridge though, we got our man in the end.

The Farah issue could definitely have been handled better... Let's hope everyone concerned learned a lesson from that fiasco.

Tedesco is not yet signed… So IMO that's screwing up big time... I hope it's all sorted before The season starts...

I don't think so, they're just trying to work the numbers into the cap apparently. With new GM appointed, should be resolved soon.

If Tedesco walks then yeah, that's when he has screwed up.

Abraham, agree with you if Teddy walks then there is a screw up..
Having said that,it seems WT are looking a hell of a lot more professional than the previous few years. With the new Coach,GM,and Board it appears Mayers job will get easier and he can concentrate on marketing and developing the club further..

I will reserve my judgment until we see good positive results on and off the field…

Quote GNR "As much as i liked Potter, he never would have done that, or would have sacked Skando from his role,"
That's not a fair statement. You can't run a race with your legs tied together. One unfortunate and regrettable aspect to the entire coaching period of Mick Potter is that we will never know how good or otherwise he was. We can't compare him with other coaches because he was never given the tools to do the job.
Jason Taylor seems to be moving forward in a positive way although some here are already posting 'jobs for the boys'. I'm still waiting to see what will happen to S&C and expecting to see real positive changes there. Although I like what I see, it's too early for mine.

I welcome JT as our new coach, but i still wonder as to why Potter wasn't given the same power as JT. Why wasn't he allowed to be a real coach? I guess the answer to that will remain a mystery.

That has me wondering too 'Tigermama'. I suspect it had to do with the contract structure resulting from Sheen's still being 'on staff' or some other hangover from Sheen's reign. Anyway, new era. JT has the keys to the car. Let's see how well he can drive.

How do we know that Tedesco hasn't been signed? Is it official from the club, Tedesco himself or his management? Not saying it's untrue but I'd just like to know the basis for the claims. Some quotes would set the record straight.

I believe there was a quote somewhere from Mayer saying agreed to terms but not signed as they are working on the breakdown of the contract per year

Soon as we lose a game or 2, and everyone will disagree with at least one selection and JT will feel the wrath of some sections of the forum.

I thought Sheens and Potter were both decent coaches. I also think JT is a good choice and has started well.

Yeah but we dont want to turn it into the Wests Tigers Asylum with all this he said she said.

Good to see Taylor is sticking his neck out 100% committed to doing it is way no buts no excuses.
