Importance of Winning Round 1 of the Year

Is it important to win your 1st game of the Year? Based on this years results I would rather have lost the 1st Round.

A lot of the teams that were talked up after winning their first game have had terrible seasons.

Parramatta beat the Warriors in NZ. Stephen Kearney had turned Parramatta into a well structured team to challenge the top sides in 2011\. Well so everyone thought. They have won only 4 games since while the Warriors are currently in the Top 4!!!

The Roosters beat Souths. Souths are still alive, while the Rooster’s have been in crisis for most of the year with only wins in the past 2 weeks saving them from a possible fight for the spoon.

The Raiders murdered the Sharks at home. Who needs Campese they said? Since then they can hardly win games even at home and are even behind the Sharks on the table.

The Cowboys beat the Broncos at Suncorp. Both sides have had improved years, however the Broncos are guaranteed a home final while the Cowboys are starting to get the wobbles.

And of course we were beaten fairly comfortably by the Dogs. Wait until the Bulldogs new buys start to gel and get combinations!!! The rest as they say is history. Sacked coach, captain forced to retire and out of contention with 2 weeks still to go.
It goes to show how long the season is and to get carried away to early. In our case don't get carried away even 6 weeks ago!!!!.
