In All Seriousness

I've been as vocal as anyone bagging the coach out this week for his over-focus on our defence and complete lack of an attacking game plan, but in all seriousness, the guys on the field are supposed to be professional football players! Most of the team have played together long enough now that they should know how to put some sort of attacking raid together on the field - you would think. They can't have their hands held by the coach all the time and once they are on the field, they have to make their own decisions and play the game on instinct.

I know they are, in essence, supposed to stick to the coach's game plan, but when you're on the field and you can see it's not working, it's time to move away from it. They've often not stuck to game plans in the past, so why are they being so rigid with them now. I'm sure JT would prefer a win rather than having the team stick 100% to the game plan and still lose - I know I sure would.

The did break pattern in the last 10 minutes and looked dangerous a few times.

They probably trust the coach and think staying 100% to the structure is how to win.

Your spot on Flip, besides if they do go of the game plan it's not as if there going to get dropped anyway? Doesn't excist at our Club being dropped .
They would be heroes if they make a play that wins us the game and JT will tell the media he instructed them to play like that

Yes Taupau tried a chip kick which nearly came off. I'm sure that was not one of Taylor's plans.

Not sure even Tapau had a plan there, but someone had to do something.

Flip, good post,I did say in another post, that it wouldn't hurt to try something a bit different to sticking to the plan, even if it's for ten mins in one game…if we get beat big deal we are getting beat doing the right thing by the coach anyway....let them loose for a few minutes
,surely that won't affect things to much...

Yeah you're right, what was I thinking! Now where's that bottle? …. ok... the coach sucks, Mayer sucks, recruitment sucks, we will get the spoon, the whole club is a mess - ah that's better!

I haven't commented on either the Knights or Cowboys debacles, in no one's world can either of these performances be acceptable or a step towards a positive.

IMO, in both games our guys went on the field expecting to turn up and win automatically.

Forget the talk about the defence/offence, whatever - until we get 17 guys who are willing to do ANYTHING for the man beside them, then all the 'coaching', structure etc. etc. will get us nowhere.

Our problem is primarily attitude.

We also aren't playing to ANY strength - yes, the strong defence/forwards orientated game is the way forward (Roosters/Manly/Bulldogs prove this every year). Yes, we should be working towards this, but we don't have the cattle to do this at the moment - full stop.

There was an interesting moment late in the game. Moses came down the right side about fourty out and put up another kick, he then turned to the trainer and gave him a mouth full.

No idea what it was about but he was certainly frustrated.

i was quite outspoken and critical of him at the start of the season, but he is growing on me. i think his defence has improved (regardless of missed tackle stats: he gets run at constantly by monsters and accepts the challenge as best he can every time), and i am now seeing signs of his much vaunted potential.

for such a young guy to express himself in a way that suggests he is frustrated with such rigidity and inflexibility on the field shows me he feels like a caged animal…which i think is a great sign.

Yeah that is interesting. I wonder what the trainer was doing there - probably running out instructions from JT to stop the ad lib plays and keep it boring, hence the mouthful from Moses

On a previous occasion he didn't tell the media it was his instruction - I don't think he is that type of person.

Flip im hopping the boys will revolt and play some ad-lib footy next week, because as we all know the Titans can throw the ball around and score points. Unlike us.. :frowning:

There was a moment towards the end of the game where the trainer could be heard shouting "High! High! High!" on the fifth, could be related to that.
