I think we all know what their concerns are and most are legit. Not singing the national anthem is not going to help that

Maybe they can't sing..this singing of the Anthem by sporting teams is fairly recent in sporting history..I can remember members of the Australian Cricket Team and Rugby League teams not singing,… where others did...,were they disrespectful don't think so just a different focus..

Let’s rissole the Pommys signature in the corner of our flag, and just keep the white Southern Cross on the blue background, Both cultures represented ,
Would rate right up with Canada in recognition, andwould look great.

Well, I was also outraged by their disrespect to OUR ANTHEM, and I also thought the look on some of their faces was just pure arrogance (we are either all Australians, all equal and all for each other or not).
We are all immigrants, including the Australian Aborigines (yes, they came here from Africa via Asia), is that any different than the immigrants that came from Britain and Ireland? or the Italians and Greeks in the fifties and now the Australians from Asia?
All the Australians born here - are they not of THIS land?
A few points I find worth making:
*Why, do Aborigines need their own flag?
*Why, do Aborigines not sing the National Anthem?
*Why, do Aborigines complain about Australia day but are happy to play their didgeridoos, stomp around with their spears etc. at all the official ceremonies.
Wouldn't that be a good time to have nothing to do with it and make a protest, by not participating.
*Why do Aborigines, specifically the Darug people who claim (amongst a larger area) that they are the traditional owners of my block of land - if so shouldn't they pay my rates to Parramatta council? Of course not, they would want me to pay rent.
I feel if you play for NSW, QLD or Australia - ALL the players should sing the National Anthem - It is simple, sing it or you are OUT!

Their land was stolen, they were given white mans diseases, their children were stolen. But these things were not done by modern day Australians. This started 231 years ago not yesterday. We can't help what our forebears did but we should try and fix what what we can. But this growing disrespect of other peoples cultures in Australia by the First Nation does not help their cause.It only makes people resentful of their demands. Australia is not the only country to have this problem, NZ has, South Africa has, the USA has and even India. The common denominator in all this was that it was introduced by England's colonisation policies and the abuse of the native owners.
England, the root of all evil, and we still let them have sovereignty over our country. The First Nation should be angry at England not the poor convicts that were exiled here and much less the people of today.

It's a free country, but it's a little hypocritical of anyone not wanting to sing the national anthem, yet still want to represent the country that has this anthem they don't like.
In saying that, I personally think the anthem is outdated.

I saw a quote yesterday saying it was the white man's anthem and was written in the 1700's. I was written in the late 1800's.
"I brings back memories of what's happened" - Cody Walker. Obviously they are recent memories as it did not become the Australian anthem until 1975.
Laurie Daley was also saying Australia needs to have a discussion, but obviously some want veto rights on anything they do not agree with.

Well actually that is a little incorrect. The stealing of children actually happened up until 1970 which is why this is still so fresh.
I don't think its the words in the song, more so that Aboriginals were not really a voice when the anthem was chosen or written.
I dont see why people get so offended by the whole topic. What are you scared of? The song was created by some Scottish guy in 1878 and didnt become our national anthem until 1984.
