Inglis circus rolls on
By Wayne Heming, AAP July 27, 2010, 6:58 pm

The Greg Inglis circus continues to roll on with Brisbane again emphasising they are not interested in indulging in a bidding war with the Gold Coast to secure the Melbourne Storm star's signature.

The Titans are reportedly ready to weigh in with a $1 million package once Inglis is granted a release by the Storm.

It's understood Gold Coast boss Michael Searle has told Inglis' manager Allan Gainey the club is ready to join the bidding once the release on compassionate grounds is official.

That's unlikely to happen though until at least next week with the club's new boss Ron Gauci to attend a chief executives meeting in Sydney later this week.

While Brisbane are quietly confident the Queensland and Australian representative wants to link with them, they have made it clear they won't up their initial offer of around $400,000 a season, which includes third party deals, if the Titans offer him more.

Searle arrived back from an extensive overseas business trip last week declaring the club would Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon Brisbane's offer to Inglis.

Inglis' manager, Allan Gainey, who has said his client's preference is to play for Brisbane, said he'd been instructed to listen to the Gold Coast's offer.

Neither Gainey or Searle returned AAP's calls on Tuesday but Searle is on record as saying the club is very interested in Inglis.

"I consider him as one of the top three players in the game and at such a young age, he is someone you can build a club around," Searle told Fox Sports.

Brisbane chief executive Bruno Cullen however said the club would not be upping its offer to Inglis in light of the Titans' 11th hour play.

"We're not involved in any negotiations at all," said Cullen.

"We're keen to get him but we've put our offer on the table and that won't change.

"Michael (Searle) is doing his best with his manager and there could be a personal connection there, Michael may even be his manager of his accountant.

"Michael's doing his best as he should but our position is clear, we're not negotiating, we're waiting to see where Greg gets with his release and the NRL and Melbourne and the salary cap.

"When that's all over we'll see where we are.

"Searlie is very pro-active in that regard and he's doing all those things."

Cullen denied there was a verbal agreement with Inglis to join Brisbane on a two year deal.

"He has indicated he would like to play with the Broncos because he has got some State of Origin mates here and his fiancee lives and works in Brisbane.

"That's a desire. He certainly hasn't agreed to terms and we never said that he has."

Titans just needed to crawl to the NRL for a $1m loan…..now they can offer GI a $1m deal?

When was the last big name player we got from the NRL that other clubs were after too?
We are NEVER in the hunt.

It's easy Innk… Either we're honest, or have terrible accountants.

….And the saga continues. Apparently Souths are having a crack as well...

Now the Gladiator is involved, this will drag on a bit longer…. He will play that Indigineous Card....I reckon they will only need to off-load 1 of their Big 4 if they do a deal with the NRL...

Nows the chance for someone to pounce on Cronk??? If we dont have $500k for him, we are paying overs for under-achieving Footballers!!!

When was the last time Souths lost anyone of note they wanted to keep. Seriously if they sign Inglis and nobody leaves they might as well can the salary cap. Rusty is starting to make the Storm management look good.
