This occurred in the 73rd minute. A "No try" (the sane decision) gives NSW 7 minutes to have an OPPORTUNITY to win the game. They would have been fighting hard, playing expansively, I have no doubt they would have at least got into great field position, whether they would score or not, who knows.

Qld had all the momentum leading to this scenario... NSW had cement in there boots... they probably couldve most likely knocked on the ball 20 meters out and qld score again???

Qld were robbed of the opportunity to play to there strengths all night... And further more, its about time Qld got a lucky call. NSW have had those calls the last 2 years and still couldnt win. But on those occasions, you probably blamed the Coach or Selectors!!!
 
For mine Inglis knocked on. Farah did not make a kick at the ball. It was a shocking decision and accoprding to the Daily Telegraph, Ricky says Billy told him it was the wrong call.

The worst call for mine was the penalty against Bird late in the first half for a great tackle, no way was that a penalty.

Also the 10 minutes for Jenniongs was againts recent SOO trends and was a poor decision. If they keep that rule I expect to see Sam Thailday in the bin for at least half the series.

I think the 2 guys plus the video ref will not get another game in this years series.
 
Shocking call. Ruined a great match.
Farah knocks it out with his boot then Inglis knocks it forward; then eventually gets downward pressure on it after it hits the ground.
I laugh when they ask Meninga for his opinion on the try awarded to Queensland. As if you will get anything diplomatic from him!

I disagree. I felt NSW, particularly their smaller forwards, were finishing the game off better than Qld. The big Maroon fellas were looking for somewhere to lie down for mine.

I hope Robbie Farah can stay on the tackled player as long this week when he plays for the Tigers. Farah really slowed their play the ball down, almosty Melbourne like. He made it an art form last night. Hope him and Blair can do the same this week but I doubt the refs will be as lenient. Queensland were also very good at slowing down the play the ball apart from Harrision getting pinged twice they got away with it as well.

What do the NSW backrowers have to do with it?
He is the weakest player in the Qld pack. Replace him with Gallen and you have the best 13 this country can put up.
 
We cant have all the players mate. It is about time your mob pull their fingers out and have a go. It seems more important to a lot of them to make the NSW side rather than to actually perform once there.

There are only 4 NSW men who consistently have a go at Origin, no matter what their club form is like. Gallen, Bird, Hayne and Watmough. They could be underperforming in a side coming last on the ladder but put them in Origin and they always stand up. Ashley Harrison is the same type of bloke. He is no superstar, but he has played a number of Origins now for one reason….he never lets us down. He didnt last night again.
 
You do have all the players. That's why it will be 7 in a row.
The players do their best, and always will, they just aren't good enough at the moment.
The only way to improve the Qld side would be to replace Harrison with Gallen.
 
That is a defeatists attitude. Ever hear of an under dog victory?

QLD have done numerous times - played against a virtual Australian side and won. It can be done. They arent invincible.

I have heard of that. Apparently every time Queensland win it is one of those.

I'm not defeatist, I am realistic. The team NSW has can be good enough, they just aren't at the moment.
I will still support them and cheer them on. And I will also admit when the other team is better. Which apparently isn't good enough.
 
I actually thought that over the entire 80 minutes, the blues were the better side last night. The difference was that when the Maroons had the chance to score they didnt fail. They never choke. They are patient and they are methodical. Kicking out on the full, not finding touch, giving away penalties, dropping the pill…..these are the areas where if NSW had better luck and/or discipline they would have won. You give QLD good field position or piggy back sets and you will lose every time.

I wasnt overly impressed with the Maroons last night. They need to step it up a notch to win in game 2\. NSW needs to settle down and pick a strong bench. I think we will see a decider.....
 
I thought the Maroons didn't get out of second gear.
Tate played a blinder and if he had a yard more pace he would have killed the game off far earlier.
As you say, it came down to errors. The two that really hurt were Carney not finding touch and Pearce passing on the inside to Smith. Farah kicking out on the full was exactly the right idea but just failed in execution.
 
Yeah I agree. I really like Farahs presense of mind to retreat into the 40 for that kick. From memory it would have been a 40/20 if not for the width..he got the angle right. That would have been a huge play. His maturity is really very encouraging. He was the only playmaker who stood up last night.

It was almost like he was playing for the Tigers…

Farah playing at it is redundant.

Control of ball -> Farah Foot -> Loss control of ball -> **Inglis Forearm -> Loss control of ball -> Grass** -> Bounce -> Grounded

Last time I check the part in bold constitutes a knock on… simple as. Video ref and field refs should be sacked.
