INGLIS

Some real sour grapes here

My posts aren't a reaction to yesterday's game Ink. I've always thought and reiterated these sentiments to my friends, yesterdays game just reaffirmed my thoughts about him as a person. Freakish player, probably not even human but don't like his personality and good guy act.

Thurston is a freak player and a good guy. Inglis is a freak player who try's coming across as a good guy and then ruins it by doing something grubby. It's been happening for a while now.

Neither can half the players in the comp.

Yeah that's true but Greg is now an established superstar on the field and is nearing his thirties. If you're going to strut your stuff on the field and get in other players faces then it's probably best that you don't embarass yourself off it.

You can cut younger, camera shy players some slack but he has achieved everything in the game and is now captain of the biggest NRL club in Australia. It wouldn't hurt to come across as a little smarter..

Nothing made me angrier than seeing the way he continually got in Teddy's face all game yesterday, even Teddy acknowledged it at one stage. There's nothing wrong with reitterating your standing in the game when you're challenged by a younger player, but for a senior player to carry on the way he did yesterday sums him up perfectly. Puts on the good guy act, but just like his Queensland mates Hodges, Thaiday and Myles is a grub.

Great player, one of the best. But a real grub and a protected species.

Good post Tony… I didn't like the way he undermined Teddy. It was an offensive display of superiority and self_ importance. :imp:

not too long ago, thurston had his captainship stripped, he was considered the biggest grub for getting into the ref's face.

Awesome player. Can't stand the guy. Owned Teddy yesterday ( love ya Teddy) but now it's clear for Ted where he has to get to and be the best in the game

He has certainly joined Cameron smith and billy slater in the "protected species" group. The look he gave teddy after scoring his try yesterday was poor sportsmanship and a bad example for kids

A grub of the highest order and not a bad full back.
A decent referee would have a field day with Goanna. Always walks 2-3 metres off the mark when playing the ball, pushes the marker over at least 50% of the time (sometimes base over apex) , not to mention the elbows in the face etc….

Plays about 20% of the game at best (Oh! I hear you say - what a 20%!).
To compare him to Thurston who is in the game for about 85-90% is an insult to a great little footballer.

An Immortal - you would have to be joking.

I'll be the crazy one - I wouldn't take him for nothing.

I 'll stick with Teddy because I think he is going to be a better full back and he's not an arrogant grub.

Mate, that is just deluded. Hate the person all you want, but don't let it influence your opinion of him as a player.

Oh please….poor sportsmanship for ''a look" he gave. ?

Serious??

I dunno....

Do you teach kids to rub it in to the opposition when they're on top? In cricket, a bowler will be reprimanded if he/she celebrates in the direction of the batsman. Why? Because it's not in the spirit of the game, and it's not what we should be teaching children. That's how I saw Inglis's look - he should've just turned around and celebrated with his teammates

It's a wrap for Teddy when a player of Inglis' standing in the game feels threatend enough by a rising star to react the way he did.

Probably just his way of showing a young up and comer that he is still the number one, number 1\. We'd most probably love it if one of our boys did it to his opposition - i.e Farah over Friend, Segeyaro etc.

Comparing cricket to NRL?
Youve lost the plot

Its called ''attitude''….and Id sure as hell wish more of our blokes had it, rather than pussy fans whinging about other teams players that live and breathe it

usually i agree with you mate, but think you're completely off the mark with that.

so what if he looks at teddy? you cant possibly compare cricket to this. in cricket, you can't even show contempt at the umpire's decision. how about when a player puts on a big hit and knocks the ball out? does he not look and stare over him? giving someone that look cannot possibly be bad sportsmanship.

even putting aside my man crush on GI, i dont think he's that "dirty" a player. he plays the game hard. he has the advantage of speed, strength and knowledge of the game- he simply hits hard when he takes on a smaller player and burns the forwards for speed.

This thread wouldn't exist if it was one of us. I reckon Souths fans would think Taupau is a grub after yesterday. Supporters have a funny way of seeing things when their team is involved. The mindset of a sports fan would make for a classic case study for psychologists. An ability to see things through rose coloured glasses, and to spew venom all influenced by the team you support. Politics is pretty similar which is why i don't care too much for it, too many opinions with agendas.

You may call it deluded. I do not hate him.

My opinion and it is my opinion that he is not as good as everyone says.
I think he goes on with too much dirty play, I don't think he plays the whole game.

Am I not allowed to have this opinion - I thought that the Forum was to express an opinion.

Do I have to also think that he is better than Thurston or that he will be an immortal?

That'll do me.

Ok Mate - If it will make you happy - he is the greatest player that ever played the game. Make ya happy that everyone thinks the same as you?

Pardon me for having an opinion.

Wow, relax. You said it yourself, its a forum. You have the right to your opinion, and people have the right to disagree with you, no need to react like a Kardashian.

You don't think professional sportsmen act as role models to kids? Is cricket and NRL not both a sport, where good sportsmanship should be displayed at all levels of the game?
How about instead of ridiculing my post, you articulate your point in a constructive manner so that we can have a debate rather than a slanging match.
Also, I'm not sure if you're implying that I'm a pussy, but if so, that is way out of line

I enjoyed him giving it to teddy.
He did it because he knows how good he will be, it was in a sense a show of respect.

Well said Russell… Inglis can play, he's big strong and fast and can dominate others because of it. In a good team he stands out. But the media makes him out to be one of the greats which he isn't. Far from it. I couldn't stand the Sam Burgess lovefest and i can't stand the Iglis lovefest they have going now. :unamused:
