Interesting things from the Hill on Friday night

And what happens if one of those beer cans hit a child. Absolute childish post

Anyway, off to the Roosters for me as well…..

Can't really see the humour in someone being pelted in the head with full/half full beer cans, tbh, but yeah Leichhardt is a good ground to watch the footy.

I have humour don't get me wrong ,i'm all for having fun…. but what would of happened if the bloke took it the wrong way and a fight or all in brawl broke out in front of Families then our club would be in the press for the wrong reasons , then What?

Think Western Wanderers FC v Sydney FC last week. If that's fun, well whatever turns you on.

Your point?

My point is if the guy being pelted with beer cans took it the wrong way and an all in brawl erupts in front of families watching the football surely most would not look at it as a fun thing. However there are some who would view it that way in the same as they show arrogance when smoking in a public place. Another brawl could erupt if somebody took offence at being told to pay for grandstand seats if you don't like someone smoking into your face. Leichhardt Oval is very light on for security guards and police compared to most grounds becasue in the past the crowds are well behaved there.

Look all you idiots that think it's o.k to be throwing beer cans and being gooses because you can't handle your piss , stay at pubs …. Parents have a duty of care for there kids and should be able to feel that by taking there kids to the footy that a beer can is not gonna end up on there heads , don't care about the swearing it is part of the culture of going to the Footy .
Stryker it's got nothing to do with soft parents and whatever you might think (IT'S CALLED BEING A RESPONSIBLE HUMAN BEING)

Plenty of behaviour can seem out of order if you aren't there and in that particular moment.

No its probably not great to have can tossing as a regular event on every hill. But I'm guessing with the jovial home crowd and everyone having fun, it was probably hilarious to those people who witnessed it. All done in fun and it fit the mood.

People need to relax.

i Agree Newtown , the problem is there is no more respect anymore , people do what they want . They don't care about the rest .
The same with Footy venues being smoke free , if someone says you shouldn't be smoking on the Hill and the reply is go to the Grandstand , that is exactly the level of respect people have .
I know what my reaction would be and wouldn't be pretty .

Was on the hill round half way ..and half way up the hill..did anyone else see David Gallop?

What a goose that guy was!

Talk about being a princess… His only saving grace was that he had a tigers jersey on.

Is it even possible to "get smashed" on the few beers you buy at the footy these days? Maybe if you are a Cadbury.

Plenty of *tsk* *tsk*ing being done. Guarantee nobody was hurt and nobody was offended/upset. Everyone probably had a laugh.

Don't take the larrikinism out of one of the few places its actually allowed.

If you can't handle your piss the pub is the place to be and act that way , I can drink 12 to 15 schooners and still wouldn't act like that , throwing cans ? whatever you reckon… Moron yourself , keyboard warrior.
you feel tough over the net ?

mothers, kids and families are generally looked after on the hill.
If someone does something out of line towards one of them or in a close vicinity then the offender will usually get put in their place by people surrounding, I've seen it a fair bit before.

But to digress from this right/wrong discussion I agree with the OP, there is nothing like leichhardt oval. The feeling you get watching a game there is unrivaled, the people you meet, the things you see all make for great stories. One of my favourites is that for the players to get to the sheds they have to walk through the ground…giving it to the eels players as they walked past on Friday night was fantastic.
Its also great for watching NSW cup, or has been in the past, especially when you play teams like Newtown or the Bears, the characters that turn up are fantastic. You havent lived till you've been to a Leichhardt Oval NSW Cup double header....I went once a couple of years ago and I think there was 4 NSW Cup games in a row.

i had about 6-8 beers before i got there…
so while i wasn't 'smashed' i was drunk.

Going to the Footy or any sport for me isn't just about supporting the team…it is the whole carnival, talking crap with strangers, sledging opposition players, singing songs, giving the touches and security blokes a bit of crap, having a few beers and screaming for my team.

I have sat in the stands before and I find them completely sterile. Everyone is quiet except for the odd know it all who commentates the whole bloody game. I am not advocating soccer style riots....just Aussie larrakinism. That is because I don't subscribe to boredome and am always looking for fun.

I feel sorry for those kill joys who are in here whining....you must be terrific to spend time with?

I don't think the "kill joys" are complaining about anything you wrote above.

The complaints are due to the smoking anywhere near anyone who doesn't want smoke near them and the throwing of beer cans that might hit anyone let alone a kid and/or the elderly…. Imagine if one of those stray beer cans had smashed tigergran god rest her soul straight in the face? Or a 4yo girl gets her face torn off by a beer can?

Which I think are all pretty reasonable! But that's just me.
