Ipswich jets would beat us.

Taylor sacked Fletcher. Sacked Kimmorley. Sacked Matt Cameron…

Maybe he's actually gonna nab the Walker's as his assistants?

He did…?

I wonder why the Knights knocked back the Walker Bros when they had the opportunity to sign them....they chose Brown...

Well Brown is the known quantity. The safe option.

He's not a bad coach either. I wouldn't say it'd be a case of knocking them back as much as it's choosing another good option.

I'd rather both of those options than what we have.

Also, not sure if he personally sacked them but he has the last say on all his coaching staff if I recall so I assume he's responsible.

One of the commentators were just asked which club would suit walker bros coaching style and he responded "wests tigers"

Two coaches working together and supporting each at NRL level would quell any chance of future coach mutinies at Wests Tigers.

Was thinking that too, i think it would work in the NRL, the walker bros will be signed up by a smart team soon and we will see for ourselves whether or not it will work.

No way that sort of circus footy would stand up at NRL level. Check out the NZ Warriors of the last 10 years as a rough guide. It might jag a win here and there but what style of footy doesn't ?

Walker bros were asked earlier if they would take a coaching role in the NRL, they said that they wouldnt take any coaching gig, it must suit them, the team etc. the knights don't play to their style, theyre a boring side with aging players.

Any NRL team would pump any team in tier 2 footy.
The more I see Ipswich the more I think that their style would work in NRL. There is other ways to play football other than block plays and bombs to the corner.

The great thing about forums like this is that we can all have different opinions and air them.

I for one watched that game closely and thought the Jets style would not only work in the NRL but would be very successful.

I stand by the fact that some club will appoint the Walker Brothers and they will in my opinion win a competition within 3 years. I just which we are the club because we have most of the players already in our squad needed to play that style of football.

I think crowds will go up at the team they end up coaching, I for one would love to go and watch that every week, yes their will be days it doesn't work but their will be so many days when it does and it is exciting to watch.

Watching the jets play, they have better hands and 5th tackle execution than we could produce all year.

It's easy to look good in attack in a lower grade with time and space to move. Throw them in against an NRL defence and get some experienced back rowers targeting their halves. See how good their 5th tackle options are against professionals.

To be fair- this is 2 arguments- would THIS Ipswich side beat NRL teams, or would this Ipswich side's style of play work?

The team would likely be thumped by NRL quality teams. Just the hard truth of it.

Could the style of play work? Why not? Given the right types of players & the right mentality- yeah, sure it 'could'.

Would it? These structured high quality teams tend to beat the more ad-lib style teams fairly regularly.

It would take a certain kind of blend of players.

I liked their style of play i think it would suit us, although im not a massive fan of the short drop out. Id much rather loose playing attractive football than the dour rubbish we played this year.
I did like the quote from the Walker bros prior to the game i think it was saying they were sick of seeing 5 hit ups and a bomb at the end of it, did chuckle at that quote.

I don't understand how having 2 coaches would work salary wise. The club would be paying 2 people to the job of one person. How many would be willing to do that. Would you have less assistants?

Knowing us if we were to offer them a contract they'd have to split one wage, but it would still probably be more than they are on at Ipswich

I am positive taylor would disagree

The most average NRL side would thrash the best State cup side. It's not like we didn't win a game this yr. And the games we did win were sides a lot more skilful than a Qld cup team. If we can beat NRL sides, we can beat State cup sides.

Just like most agreed that there was no way Hayne was making a roster in the NFL.

Don't speak in absolutes dude it just blows up in your face. I reckon it'd work with the right team. Certainly need the players to pull it off.

One certainty is that Billy McConachie is a machine. Where did this bloke come from?

Our players could pull it off…
