He'll hardly be running the team, that will be left up to Brooks. Think it's what Luke needs a more passive 5/8th.

@ said:Im sure instead of kicking on the third Ivan would rather have Benji acting like a leader and encouraging his forwards to come into the game and lay a platform.
If our platform is going to be kicking on the third rather than handing it to the forwards then we might as well just give up now.

Not putting any words in your mouth.
Assumptions = thought experiment. Point is to actually think out why we would put Benji to the bench at this time. You don't just do something because at a high-level it seems alright, you need to think it right through, all the outcomes.
Reynolds isn't back, so dropping Benji has s got to be for someone else and the way you've gone on with Gamble, I can only assume he's your front-runner for the spot. Also that is the topic of this thread.
So I played out what that actually looks like, Benji on bench and Gamble starting. Benji you suggested, actual words, that he might not be fresh enough to "not act like an idiot" and instead come on for clutch plays.
I queried if freshness/stamina is really the issue, what if it's just bad decision-making? Are we actually seeing errors from Benji only when he is tired or late in a game? Has not Benji-Brooks closed out 3 clutch games already and has Benji been the major factor in the 3 close losses?
Honestly, and I'm not personally having a go at you, it's just not much of a strategy if it cannot stand up to scrutiny / assumptions / outcomes or whatever word you choose to use.

I was referring to Gamble having a chance to step up with drinkwater gone in ISP last week. That was his chance to demand a 1st grade spot and he missed it

Demand - you are joking, he can't demand anything. It is not as if he is playing well.
You would need to be on top of your game to even contemplate demanding anything.
@ said:@ said:@ said:@ said:What if it was the Coaches instructions to kick early as we had been under the pump…stuck in our end for a bit... :astonished:
Ronnie was throwing the spirit fingers around like a madman at the time....
Well then the coach is a moron.
Pretty simple, if the coach is asking his players to kick on the third when weve had no ball and are gassed well then that coach is a moron who has no feel for the game.
So now you’re calling Ivan Cleary a moron? Wow! You’ve just gone to another level. But it just an opinion right?
No not calling Ivan Cleary a moron at all. Youve missed the intent here.
I dont believe Ivan Cleary instructed him to do that.
"Another level"

See, this is the trouble with assumptions. You assume from previous threads that I want Gamble in for Benji.
As I stated earlier I'm not sure if he should come in this week or not. He will at some stage as he is an out and out first grader but he has been up and down in reserves. It's not the ideal time to hand him his debut.
The whole point and it's a fair point is that Benji just doesn't have the mental focus and patience to play 80 minutes week to week. No offense but the only thing that needs to stand up to scrutiny is his poor decision making.
It might not be time for Gamble but it sure is time to make Benji Marshall more accountable .
It starts with making him sit.

Well frankly I'm very surprised if you don't think Gamble should come in, you of all people, but fair enough, you didn't explicitly mention his name even though this is a thread about Gamble.
So who comes in for Benji? Who plays 6 in your team this week?
