Is Josh Davis any chance of playing NRL?

Most Forum members appear to rate Josh Davies who never seems to get a chance in the NRL. Appears Sheens is not a fan.

From my understanding all fringe NRL players play for BRET.

As Davies plays for Western Suburbs does this means he is not in the plans of Sheens.

If he can play in the backs and forwards and a strong runner of the ball and good defence he sounds
like the perfect player to fill in for Lawrence or at least be our utility on the bench.

Maybe he has to find another club to get a start in the NRL.

Any thoughts?

IMO a very handy player but does not have the pace required for an NRL centre.

Jason Schirnack is in front of him for back row but they have both slipped behind Al Schirnack who now plays the lock replacement role filling in for squad injuries. Throw in BMM and that Fulton covers the backs and we carry a back on the bench and I just don't forsee him getting a run.

He could be one of those players who goes on to star at another club and I would not begrudge him that nor be mad at the club for letting him go.

I would really like to see him get a run in first grade as I have never seen him play. The forum members appear to rate him very highly. There appears to be many in front of him at this stage.

Much was also spoken of Pritchard and I saw the BRE game against Newtown. He was OK but not a standout.

The members seem to know their stuff so I assume he has talent but the fact that he plays for the Maggies leads me to believe he is no chance.

I have also heard a lot about Akuripa (sorry about the spelling), but he doesn't really seem to be in the picture either. Why do they stay if they are good enough?

Akeripa is out for the season almost with a foot injury. Did it in the last trial I believe

Their will probably two new teams in 2013, so that should open the door for a lot of fringe players over the next few years

I've had wraps on this kid for several years now, even before he snapped his leg.

Sheens has told me a few weeks back that he DOES like the way Josh Davis plays. and could still be an alternative down the track. Thinks he runs fast strong excellent lines, but his downfall at the moment is his decision making apparently.
Fingers crossed that Davis doesn't become another "Lewis Brown"…. :frowning:

He's another in a massive line of personal favourites for those forum members who attend the State Cup games. For every Lewis Brown there's a stack of guys who move on to play reserve grade and the odd NRL game at other clubs or who disappear completely.

Think both State Cup teams are sitting near the bottom of the ladder,so unless he's an absolute stand-out he doesnt have a compelling case to be promoted over an incumbent

Doubt he will get a shot. He was at his peak a couple seasons ago and didn't get a run. Since then Sheens has tried to develop him into a forward instead of the powerhouse centre that he was. Daniella was preferred to him even though Davis owned him every time they opposed each other.

Playing for Wests now means he is close to no chance of getting a run under Sheens.
