Is our forum full of supporters or fans?

I don't feel any less a supporter.

Sorry Gallagher, perhaps you could help me understand that. What specifically are you supporting? Team performance, clubs financial position.

You do know they can't hear you through the TV right?

Ahhh , I thought we weren't judging either way ??

And no matter how many years your a member the club doesn't seem to listen either , sometimes they even accuse you of lying when purchasing merchandise …......

Just sayin

Was a member in 14/15 but not his year , but still received a 3 year pin .

Buy the odd merchandise for the young fella when he sees something he likes .
Rarely attend games anymore , easier and less hassle just to watch on Fox .

#Bandwagoner

Can't argue with that, Fox Sports coverage is great. I try to get to 2-3 games during the season but I always feel like I've missed something and usually watch again on Fox anyway haha. Worth the subscription for sure.

I've been a fan of Wests Tigers since day 1 (was at our first trial game, first season game, first final and first grand final).

This is my 5th year as a supporter. Haven't seen any pins come my way yet. Mind you, my wife and kids are up to their 3rd year as supporters, and they each got a 1 year pin recently.

On a side note, it is probably better to use the term 'supporter' than 'member' since we don't get any real say in the goings on at the club…

I live in perth now, so it makes it hard to attend games. I usually make it over once a year to see family and friends and tie that into a game.
I've been a member previously but stopped this year. I feel that if they can ignore hundreds of thousands from ANZ , while crying poor mind you, that they don't need my money. I call it a donation because the crap they send you in the membership pack is cheap and nasty.

I have foxtel purely for footy. I believe the tigers get a few coin from the aswell.

And despite protests from my wife i am convinced the refs can ,in fact, here me.

Am i allowed to continue supporting us?

ive been a member for 8 years. dont get a chance to watch many games live, but hoping my family membership( 5 of us) helps the club be succesfull of the pictch which will in return lead to on field success. Its no fluke that the clubs with the highest membership continue to be up there on top of the table.

I'd say the best run clubs are consistently at the top of the table which brings in and keeps members.

It is important to the club that they have as many members as possible to launch any kind of marketing of the brand. It is not the be all and end, but is a staging point and all important to the bottom line, especially for a battling club.

I really feel that all that post or hover on the edge of this forum should help out with a base membership if their means allow. Most of us don't like what is happening around this and that every now and then, but really we are only punishing ourselves if we take it out on the club by not renewing or signing up because of any relatively minor grievances. I would also expect the club already takes more notice of complaints or suggestions from members.

Membership is the best way that we as individuals, if able, can support our club. I only started my membership in 2011, so I (we) am just a Johnny come lately after taking far too long to fully embrace the JV. I urge my fellow forumers to join me if circumstances allow.

You are allowed to do many things I guess. You are also allowed to continue to be fan.

Not trying to be harsh. Just saying that I think the two are different.

Definitions a bit silly hut i get the point.

I watch every game live on tv, i cancel other appointments and put my life on hold dor a few hours to do so. I have an interest in all our grades and watch all grades when televised. I hang out for team-announcement-Tuesday. I read this forum every day.

I dont enjoy going to live games and so membership doesnt offer me anything except a donation and I have no interest in crappy beanies or scarves.

So i guess that makes me just a fan.

I think it's embarrassingly pedantic to want to seperate fans and supporters.

But if it makes you feel better, go for it.

Wests Tigers actually ran it as the membership campaign one year…the LINE THAT DIVIDES was the slogan..

I'm not judging a persons reasons for being a fan. I am sticking to the point that there is a difference.

Just the comment about the team not be able to hear them through the TV seemed to be judgemental , that's all

And if the players can't feel my death stares they better start getting real , because one day they WILL work :smiling_imp:

Leave it to Melbourne hipsters to overthink it.

The game's mostly funded by TV money, so whilst it helps the club that I have a ticketed membership and buy a bit of merch, my monthly Foxsport subscription probably does more for the game.

You do know that your're attendance or non-attendance at a game doesn't effect the on-field performance right?

You're not yelling loud enough then.

Yeah, current and former players in many sports often talk about the effect a crowd has.
