Is Tedesco The Best Fullback In The Last Decade

I reckon Teddy is probably the quickest out of them all over 40 metres and has the best acceleration as well which allows him to create space in attack. He has a very good passing game as well.

I think though to be lumped in with that lot he will need to dominate at some point in his career at Origin level. A premiership would also help his cause as Slater, Mini, Stewart, Inglis and Boyd have all been part of premiership winning teams. You could even throw the Hayne Plane in there as the Eels were probably a bit unlucky nit to win in '09

Agree

Let's hope that premiership is with the tigers

Nothing wrong with teds ticker . He is as brave as they come.

Of course, No one said the others have no ticker, you have to have it to run out on to the field. But pound for pound Hodgo was king you would have to agree?

With Hodgo it's almost literally a pound

I'd put Ted up there with Hodgo. Knee surgeries, broken jaws, and I think he gets as many cheap shots as anyone in the game.

I've noticed plenty of times that someone will crunch him in a tackle, and he plays even better afterwards.

Your right that kid cops the hits, and that hit from James was no accident - for starters he was offside.

But the game has become significantly cleaner over the years, not squeaky, but cleaner. Those earlier players - but let's stick to the full backs were belted from pillar to post many just on suspicion when supporting the ball runner.

Haha no.
Thats a weakness in Teds game actually. Slater is like a second 5/8th in attack. Jimmy is almost entirely a ballrunner.

Teddy doesn't have a passing game ? Ridiculous statement . Queenslanders should abstain from this thread . Clearly they cannot judge free from their ingrained bias.

Agreed . And his last man defense is completely fearless.

I'd say it's one of the few areas that Tedesco is as good as Slater along with speed off the mark

I'll leave these here…Passing Game huh..

If you haven't already seen it. The first video Geo shared will definetly bring a tear to your eye.

But man highlights reel of Tedeseco could go on for ages despite all the injuries.

I was at the Leicharddt game where he first had his knee problem. Crazily that was back when I was in Year 2\. We won that game by 1 point and Benji, Beau, & Farah ran the show. Now 4.5 years later none of those players are at the club.

I was also at the Monday night game at Cambelltown, when we played the raiders. It was direct from the kick-off and within the first 20 second he is gone. I remember that game. At one stage we only had 1 man on the bench. It was crazy. We still beat Canberra though. If only we could've beaten Canberra at Leicharddt.

To at least be playing that is a great achievement, let alone be the best fullback (imo player) in the league.

There have been so many tries that we scored this year where we passes through the the hands to our wingers or centres to score.

Many of those tries Teddy had a hand in. If he didn't move the ball on so quickly we definitely wouldn't of scored.

You should look back at some of the tries Kev and David N scored this year. I bet teddy will have a hand in many of those.

Comes back to the fact that Slater has been doing all of what Tedesco can do and more at the very elite level for 10 seasons

Teddy needs to have some back to back killer seasons before they are even in the same ocean , let alone the same boat

Whilst not the best of the past decade, he is certainly the best current fullback and has a skillset to match any of those mentioned above. The poor guy has battled bad luck with injury and playing as part of a middle of the road squad that formed a dysfunctional team, yet still kicks arse on the field.

His best attribute is being a quality person, with no crap in his game game, nor tickets on himself.

Must be frustrating for NSW people knowing they have only produced the second best fullback in the country for the last 20 years… Let's hope Teddy goes 1 better!

Potentially yes he could be

But in terms of fullbacks of the last decade (which is what this thread is all about)

Players like Mini, Slater, Boyd, Barba, Inglis etc etc have achieved a lot more than him, not to be detrimental at all but wait another 10 years before we can judge how good he is, still got plenty of youth on his side

In my unbiased eyes I'd put him the best fullback of the last 2 years though when injury free.

He's not the fullback to have played at this club yet as Hodgo still has that honour IMO. Give Jimmy a few years and he may eclipse him.
