Is there more Bias with one Ref

I don’t know what it is, but since around 2012 South Sydney have been completely and utterly favored by the referees in nearly every game.

Not for a second do I believe there is some game wide conspiracy to lift them up, however it is bewildering the amount of times they are in trouble and get marched downfield. Take the dragons game. Down 16-0 and then suddenly get a 4-0 penalty count in the space of 8 minutes. 3 of these were for offside, the only offside penalties for the entire game. They then get on a roll, come over the top and win. This happens every time they are in trouble

The Burgess brothers made a living out of dropping the ball and getting a penalty from it

Did you know that Souths 2014 hold the record for the most penalties ever recieved in a season? This is in rugby league history. Very convenient

Wouldn’t say bias, just easier to exploit

Exactly ..
With the farcical set re-start rule they are totally unaccountable for their inept decisions.

I couldn't care less if the broncos got the rough end of the pineapple. It's pure gold imo.

Couldn't care less about the Broncos, but the way Souths virtually get gifted games due to complete ref bias is disgraceful. It happens nearly every week with that mob.
Just the general hopeless nature of refereeing these days is killing the game, some teams are pretty much reffed out of matches from kick-off.

Surprisingly souths have conceded the least amount of set restarts going in to this round, and I agree souths get away with plenty every week.
It is the set restarts and penalties the other team doesn't get that is the issue, there is no stat for that, and the refs know it

Compared to the advantages the Roosters get it's nothing

Well any bias that exists, subconscious or otherwise, is going to be expressed to a greater extent in a sample of 1 than of 2. So by definition, yes 1 ref is likely to be more influenced by a certain factor.

To suggest biased intent however, no. Maybe hometown bias in front of a large and vocal crowd, which doesn't really exist right now (vocal maybe).

For a long time there have been accusations of pro-Broncos bias including the "cushy" run they get of consistent Friday-night football. Haven't seen the refs doing Broncos any favours in 2020 particularly the match against Souths last night.

Some folks will then say "well Souths are a protected species and particularly now Latrell is there". Still not doing Souths much good hanging around the bottom of the 8.

It’s cos they’ve only won 3 games. If they were entrenched in the 8, people would be losing their minds. But they are out of sight, out of mind.

I have said this many times, the officials got souths a premiership in 2014, it was obvious to anyone who watched their games that year

WE got flogged by 40 so Im not blaming the ref,but he gave us absolutely nothing for the first 70 mins. Then tried to square up,as they usually do.
And as for the try just b4 half time, that was a textbook double movement as I saw it...
But in the context of such an underwhelming performance which officially ended our finals run..meh

I think we excel at giving repeat sets..most teams give them on the 1st tackle with the opposition inside their own 20..no biggy..

We however concede ours on the 4th or the 5th 20m out from our own line giving the opposition 10/11 tackles when most of the time they only need 8

I'd love to see the stats on it.

Refs aren't particularly hesitant to award a 6-again because there's less fallout from it, and the videos aren't then showing the incident over and over. So if you infringe you are likely to get done, especially if you are already on the backfoot.

I agree we seemed to concede a lot of very untimely penalties.
