Is this a successful year (ahead of Sunday's game)?

And they beat us with the illegal team and denied us 2 points, which would see us in the 8!

Everyone had to do the same.
No advantage to anyone.
Everyone's loss to parra would have made a two point loss to them. We're no different

Penrith got an advantage…..they got to keep the 2 points because they luckily beat an illegal team.

We had the same chance to beat them too. We weren't good enough to do it , Penrith were. Twice.
Not sure where the " lucky" comes into it.
We were the lucky ones . If Parra hadn't had points taken away we wouldn't have been anywhere near the Semis

Parra are a hoodoo team for us anyway, we always seem to struggle when we play them, or is that just my perception?

The fact that come the last round we are still in with a fighting chance is a successful year.
The development of Moses and the rise of Teddy has been the key highlights. Brooks has improved slightly and just needs to take control of the game better plus improve his short kicking game
Sue has grown in the latter stages of season while Aloli can only get better after this season.
Our defence is still a big issue, we switch off far too often, we never dominate teams nor are aggressive enough in defence plus we have the worst right side defence in the competition.
We are short 2-3 decent players esp a strike centre, backrower and winger (i cannot see anyone within our club in the lower grades who cannot step up which is embarrassing).
Lots of positives, still alot of negatives and still lots of work to do unless we improve our recruitment.
Based on where i though we would be which is bottom 3, i would give us a 6/7 out of 10 for season.

Not to mention those around us - Titans and Warriors only played them when they were cap compliant and suprise - another two points for them too.

We werent good enough to beat an illegal team, sure. The others just had to be good enough to beat a legal team. And they did….. Sounds fair to me.

Could have been the difference between us making the 8 on our own or not. Not suggesting that has ruined our year, but it is certainly a factor.

Just like a football match, staring well and collapsing feels much worse than starting poorly and ending well.

It's the old half-glass theory. I think you could easily predict which way most commenters were going to vote.

Why is that GCT?

Just how many positions on the League Table would Parra have taken up?

An improving team heading in the right direction.however, Missing the 8 can never be considered a successful year.

Exactly. We do appear to be heading in the right direction but we really should make the 8 this year. We are definitely good enough.

Before the season started I thought we'd improve to about 12th with a stretch objective to be competitive in most matches - no thrashings. Overachieved on the ladder and nearly hit the stretch - pretty good with limited change to the roster since last year.

We were the only dopes to lose to Newcastle all season

And the raiders who are coming 3rd had a draw with them

I was just watching the Knights V Dragons game cheering the Knights on hard cause I didn't want us to be the only team to lose to them. For the record I think our season hasn't been all that bad except for the first 1/3 of the season, was just pointing out that we are the only team to lose to them now they've finished their season.

Who cares, the fact is they only won one game, and that was against us, if we beat the knights like every other team we would be in the 8 now.

They still didn't lose to them

They beat them the same amount of times we did

Lol… Put whatever spin on it you like, the fact is still the same that Newcastle won 1 game this year and it was against us.

Does that take away everything else we've done? Just seems like another excuse to whinge. What we've done in the second half of the yr outweighs one bad game against the wooden spooners.

With their lost points , they were in front of us for the best part of the Season , if not all of it. They'd be already on at least 28 points and still ahead now, with a game to go this weekend.
Before the usual excuses are trotted out, this competition is not fair at any time, with the stupid draw, and some clubs making their own Cap, and I don't just mean Parra.
Plenty of clubs are cheating , but haven't been caught yet. But a few clubs , should be sending Parra a keg or two for gifting then a spot in the Semis
