Is this a successful year (ahead of Sunday's game)?

I am not sure how the "success" could be measured due to the Parra - 12 points situation.

Why not? They never should have had the team they had anyway.

And they beat us with the illegal team and denied us 2 points, which would see us in the 8!

You can bet parra, manly, souths and easts will not be down the bottom of the table next year, we may have missed our chance to make it this year.

I don't think any of them are dead certs for the 8 next year. Especially souths and manly.

Next year will be harder, cause some of those teams don't have two many back to back bad years. But you can only play what's ahead of you and while those teams aren't doing so good this year there is no guarantee those doing good this year will do it again next year?

Also we have had our handicaps this year as well.

Well it's an improvement from last season that's for sure, but I'd hardly call it successful at this stage. Of course, if we go onto make the 8 and go well into finals that will be a different story  but when it's all boiled down, being in the position of having to depend on other results going our way in the last round, just so we can somehow sneak into 8th position is not a successful year, imo.

Success is not only making the 8 in the NRL but actually doing something when you do….Is this season Successful...Not yet...

Have we improved as a Club based in recent seasons.... Yes,,,Can the Club continue to build on that improvement...Hope so...

Everyone had to do the same.
No advantage to anyone.
Everyone's loss to parra would have made a two point loss to them. We're no different

Penrith got an advantage…..they got to keep the 2 points because they luckily beat an illegal team.

If Farah goes, I'll deem it a successful year. Otherwise, partially successful. I said at the start of the season that top 8 would be an over achievement for us. Still stand by that.

That's certainly one way to look at it! :roll

And I'm a RF fan, but I agree. It has to end.

At the start of the year I'd seen us a a fringe 8 side, expecting us to finish between 10th and 7th. Having said that, Tedesco and to a lesser extent Moses, killed it. Based on their performances, and the poor performance of the Roosters, Souths and Eels, I expected us to make the eight. Taylor has the cattle, we should be playing finals this year, we still may

There have only been 15 teams in the comp this year(parra cheated)so in my mind 8th or better is an ok year 9th or below means we are below the majority of the teams. After a horrendous early half of the season the team has improved.I would consider to get to the 2nd week of the semis i would classify it as a good year.Lets hope that it happens

This " only 15 teams due to cheating" rubbish is such a furphy…. This team that didn't exist beat us earlier in the year.... It's only the 2 comp points from that game that doesn't exist

Our performance after round 8 has been a success… The team has also shown that it is not reliant on one or two players, by winning at various times throughout the year with key players missing, which is a very good sign...

Other teams underperforming is irrelevant... You could argue that we have a good chunk of our salary cap in the State Cup... You could also argue that we werent given the opportunity to play a salary cap compliant Eels side at the start of the year... Point being there are always going to be anomalies in every season, next year there will be other teams underachieving...

From where we are now it would be disappointing if we didn't make the 8 next year...

Totally agree mate. We've built ourselves a great platform that anything other than a solid top 8 birth (as in having a consistent season, not just scraping in) would be a failure.

We had the same chance to beat them too. We weren't good enough to do it , Penrith were. Twice.
Not sure where the " lucky" comes into it.
We were the lucky ones . If Parra hadn't had points taken away we wouldn't have been anywhere near the Semis

Did Parra play every team once only before they were reformed? They should at least give one point for those teams defeated by Parra whist under illegal status - so some sort of justice.
