Author Wests Tigers Timestamp Tue 6 Mar 2018, 03:45 PM

Western Suburbs Magpies Intrust Super Premiership Coach Brett Hodgson has named his team to take on the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs this Saturday.

Kickoff for the match is at 2:15pm AEDT from ANZ Stadium prior to the NRL match.

Hodgson has named an extremely strong side for the season opener with David Nofoaluma, Taane Milne, Mahe Fonua, Tyson Gamble, Matt McIlwrick, JJ Felise and Chris McQueen all included for the match.

Sauaso Sue has also been named as he returns from a hamstring injury sustained in pre-season.

After a strong trial performance last fortnight, Watson Heleta has been named at fullback, while young guns Toni Tali and Bayley Sironen have also been included in the run-on side.

Former South Sydney forward Patrice Siolo has been named by Hodgson on the interchange bench alongside Joseph Ratu, Cowen Epere, Braden Robson, Harry O'Toole and Lucas Price.

I’ll be also watching with interest ….. and hope that they put in the effort and have a good win.

Really looking forward to seeing how they go.

We have options and depth now.

Gamble and the young centre are ones i want to see run around for 80

I see the plan now we will win a premiership , just not one too many will care about

JJ Felise should be coming off the bench in NRL

7 of that starting 13 can very easily make out top 17.

Its a very good squad.

Wow. Contrast this side with the hideous squad we had last year. Surely this side has to be pushing the top 4.

That match is going to give a good indication of how first grade will go this season. If those that probably feel they should be playing first grade go out there and give their all then we'll have reason to hope. If they go out there and go through the motions thinking it's all beneath them then we'll be in for a long year. It's easy for players to say the right things about the team coming first but it's a lot harder for a seasoned first grader to actually deal with being trotted out in reggies.

Agree …. effort was definitely lacking last year .... and the coach was just “mjeh”!!!!

Can't see anyone in this side not busting a gut because they think it is beneath them…....because now there is too much competition for spots to rest on your laurels and cruise. They will be ripping and tearing wanting to get back into the big league.
Hear what you are saying though.

Sometimes hard, at first, to take a kick in the guts and put in when your heads been messed up.
Guys who have been in firsts will want to get back to the Tigers … they won’t even know what it’s like to run out in a Maggie outfit.
