Issac Luke seems finished at Warriors, approves of Wests Tigers suggestion

The only problem I can see by signing Luke is he takes up a roster spot that we can I'll afford to waste. Given that most on here agree that next year is going to be much the same or worse than this year I would rather try and fill the DH role from within the existing ranks. Use what money we have for a good outside back or edge forward. I think if Mbye works on his goal kicking he should be the answer to that problem.
Having said that the options of filling the role from within are limited. Taylor, Reynolds and Mbye have all bee tried and failed. The only options I can see are Brooks or Robson and neither has played DH at NRL level.

I think Luke for a year would be good. Back-up plan: Levi. Neither should break the bank. As others have said: 1 year + 1 option

Rather not have him - but if we do then max 1 year for mine.

Could be a disaster at his age.

Who do you think would be a better hooker to sign Russ? There’s not a lot of options out there.

I agree Avo, however there are only 7 off contract after Segeyaro signed with the Donkeys - Kurt Baptiste, Billy Brittain, Sione Katoa, Michael Lichaa, Issac Luke, Matt McIlwrick and Zac Woolford.

With Liddle out for at least half of next season I think we need someone with NRL experience at DH - this counts out Brittain and Woolford and dodgy knees rule out McIlwrick,

That leaves Luke (who I ruled out), Katoa, Lichaa and Baptiste.

If I had to choose - on a one year deal only (I might add) I would go with Baptiste.

Can I ask why everyone is ruling out Andrew McCullough for ???

Don't think he would leave the Donkeys, don't think he is off contract, would cost too much and at 29 starting to get a few injuries over the last two seasons.

Talk about drama queens ! I would not offer Luke a sausage sandwich let alone a contract ! Has not anyone learnt the misgivings of the past in signing old injury prone players ... the club now has to decide the future of Liddle before signing anyone as he probable will not be on the park until into the second half of next season and will only have a season on his contract left .
Do they look around for a long term signing min2 yrs or get Brooks head in the scrum , I think this situation has been blown out of proportion to be honest , there seems to be a few recognised players off contract and probable a few decent ones running around in various lower grade systems so it is not that dire where an immediate decision has to be made. Forget Luke !

I watched Luke play a couple of weeks ago and he was very poor, he looked disinterested, ill disciplined, slow and lethargic - it worries me that we could end up with him performing badly for a couple of seasons and looking to try and offload him, which in our current roster situation would only make things worse.
I would prefer a younger hungry guy looking for a chance. Where did Fainu at Manly come from? He looks like a future star to me, however if they are offloading Api then they must have him wrapped up. Perhaps there is a young player waiting in line at the Storm or at the Panthers- both usually have a bit of depth in the spine.

If we are looking for a decent hooker for years to come then this guy would be my choice - Daryl Clark 26 years old, Warrington Wolves. Wouldn't come cheap but you could build the team around him. Strong tackler, quick, plays 80min...rarely injured.

I dont mind Luke as a 1-2 year option at right price but in saying that he would not be able to play 80min thus we need to carry 2 hookers in the 17. So basically we need to potentially sign 2 new hookers.

Definitely off contract ...as I said he was going to be Qld SOO hooker before injury
