ITCHY FEET FOR LOTE TUQIRI
By Wayne Cousins
29/03/2012 6:10:34 PM
Lote Tuqiri has itchy feet and wants the ball in his hands again.
The dual international winger makes his long awaited return from a wrist injury when he lines up for his first match this season against South Sydney at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, April 1, at 3pm.
Tuqiri’s last match was at the same venue – the semi-final loss to the Warriors that ended the Wests Tigers season in 2011.
He is hoping for a different result this time around as he strives to help Wests Tigers win its second game of the season.
"It hasn't been easy sitting on the sidelines. We haven't won as many games as we would have liked but hopefully I can make a bit of a difference. I don’t know how much,’’ Tuqiri said.
“I'll just go out there on Sunday and do my job and hopefully that helps.
"It's a bit early to make any conclusions (about the team) but we're getting into a time now when we have to start putting some wins together.
"It's been well-documented that we've done this in the last couple of years, losing 3 or 4 games. It's not a position that we haven't been in before.
“We know how to get out of it. We're all sticking tight and going about our jobs and just doing the little things."
Tuqiri said he has enjoyed ‘flying under the radar’ in his return from injury.
“It has been good. I will go out there, do my warm up and just go out there and do my job,’’ he added.
“I’m not putting too much pressure on myself and I don’t think anyone else is either.
“It will be good to just get back on the field and hopefully come out with the win.”
Match Day Schedule
