It's either a glass half full...or half empty

Probably the best thing was the buys seemed to add a bit of energy and look at how May tried at the end there...100% was the best player for us. Probably happy that we reversed the trend from last year of the young guys being the best thing about us. Today May, Twal, Hunt, Bird and to a lesser extent Luai looked good. Skelton and Turuva aren't exactly veterans but also clearly a better standard that what we've had.

Galvin has had it all said before, ive said it for most of his short career. He ran for 130 metres. Great if its effective, incredibly frustrating if its not....plenty of yardage in this team dont need him taking hit ups with May at 175 and Kelton 200+. The one that scares me for second year syndrome [I know he played a bit for Manly] is Sam Fainu....we can't have him regress. Pole also outplayed by guys who put in both sides of the ball. Love Fonuas hit ups but he has to see what real first graders look like and he doesn't have to look far now.

We need the young guys to keep playing with better first graders so they learn. I'm tipping Benji will have a totally different challenge this year, as he empowered the kids a lot last year but in NRL you have to earn it not rely on coach puffing you up. I was pretty happy with Tallyn, and to a lesser extent Faatape and Mason.

I think guys like Naden and Toa could look a bit more consistent in a team like this, but really one class centre and second rower would have shut down a lot.

Last point....multiple times the last couple of years I've tallied up the players I'd keep from our starting 17 and come up with about 5. Now we basically fixed 6 or 7 spots in one off-season which is amazing, but we are starting from so far back it isn't funny.
Pole misses a fair few tackles and then you add in the misees he didn't get a hand on the opposition ...

Gotta address the issues, boss.

Target area; centre and backrow.

Terrell wants to play with his bro.
Depending on the court outcome, Taylan will address one of the issues.

Then we need to plan for the backrow situation.
Lol recruitment is not a problem.

I don't know how we can be glass half full.

5/8 games so far and we were the worst team so far. Knights 2nd.

I really hope I'm wrong about this..

What are u smoking?? Did u not see the cocks game???

No only were the Knights terrible but we actually got almost every 50/50 call go our way.

Add to that, first game of the season and home ground advantage... Can't see us getting out of bottom 4

It is very early days but too many poor performances like last night and despair will become very common on here. You simply can not miss over 50 tackles a game and expect good results and i don't care how well you scramble you will lose far more often than you win.Campbelltown does not give us any home ground advantage,we have only won twice there out of our last 14 games. We have a better winning ratio at away games than we do at Campbelltown,we are terrible there.

Positives:

- May was incredible. One of the best performances I've seen from a forward in a Tigers jersey for a long time. Huge motor and yet each carry was impactful and he generated some second phase play with his offloads. Didn't miss a tackle either. Excellent signing.
- The Twal and Hunt rotation. These two complement each other perfectly.
- Skelton had a good debut. Nice to have a guy in our back three who can actually cart the ball forward and not get bent backwards. Always good to score a try on debut.

Negatives:

- Luai. I thought he was dreadful leading us around the park. He made a few nice defensive players but offered absolutely 0 in attack, which is no where near good enough for a 1.2m a year player. I was bearish on his signing because he's not a halfback nor has he shown he can consistently be the no.1 option in the team, and this has done nothing to alleviate those fears. Obviously will give him time to work on the combinations, especially once Koroisau returns but I expected a lot more.
- Galvin. Galvin was poor too, but you can't fault his effort. Some poor decisions but he is a dangerous ball runner. I think he'd like to have some of those kicks back.
Centre play. Faataape's just not a first grader and Doueihi is passable, but he's not going to create any points. Naden's injury is a real shame because it looked like he was primed for a big year. Hopefully he can come back sooner rather than later, as with To'a too.
- Missed tackles. We hit and don't stick. It's nowhere near good enough. I can live with it if Ponga carves us up here and there, but letting other random blokes slice through us is poor. I'm not even sure it's an effort thing. Our blokes are there in numbers and they're just falling off. We need to fix this one way or another if we want to be a remotely serious team this year.

Oh God.... It's not 2003 anymore... Ridiculous comment

I agree with most of what you said … Would prefer Twaly off the bench than as the starting 13…but not the biggest problem compared to Centre concerns

We played like 3 time spooners today.

We looked totally lost & 1 dimensional in attack.

We get behind and don’t even try to win.

We had nearly every call go our way, we had brilliant field positioning and we offered zero threat.

Knights were atrocious and still won.

There was zero shape & our halves offered nothing.

We missed 50 tackles and gave up 6 or so line breaks. We are very lucky we lost by 2pts.

I don’t know how anyone could think half glass full with a game like that coming off 3 spoons playing at home.

It’s not a good start to the season.
The most concerning thing for me was zero shape. No bodies in motion . How do we not have a play set up for samuela??

Have you ever watched a tigers team down by 2 points and thought they weren’t going to score. Galvin was horrendous. Took the wrong option every single time.

Good summary for mine. Concerning for me that luai’s never say die attitude may not have transferred across from Penrith
