HBG are at the very heart of the failures that continue to destroy this club.

We cannot sit idle and watch them destroy the Wests Tigers. They must either significantly increase their investment in the club (an additional 5 million per year would be a good start). If they refuse then we may find a way to get rid of them

So we can target the administrators, V'landys and co as one option. The gross incompetence displayed by unqualified and unaccountable morons continues to degrade the reputation of the NRL. They have options to try fix the club but steadfastly refuse. He must put more pressure on them.

But first we need to build a campaign to pressure HBG to **** or get off the can. Who has contacts in the media? We need as many journalists and bloggers criticising the negligence HBG demonstrates. We have the financial records, we have the complete failure of the WT every single year they've been the exclusive owners of the club as evidence.

We are a laughing stock in every single grades and it cannot be tolerated.

We should sack Benji as coach but because these incompetent fools have him an extended contract they won't want to sack him. But in the end, this is their failure. Nobody wanted Benji as coach in the first place and nobody wants him to remain there now.

It only took a few rounds for their entitled culture filtered down to the playing group again and the richo effect wore off. Who would want to spill blood for a mob that didn't have to get selected, but get to sit at the top of the pile?

You go compare our board to those in a similar league club position, the eels and the panthers. It's bloody chalk and cheese. The eels board is damn impressive, alongside the amazing mix on the panthers.

The eels have 5 independents, 2 nominated leagues directors and Penrith have a mix of democratic club member elections and independent board appointments. Neither of them are controlled by the leagues club like we are and have significant more spending on pathways.

How can we get these guys back to what was working? They're a deadset cancer.

I think Benji is the only coach that genuinely loves the club - he may not be the best, but for this period, we need a figurehead. Similar to Ricky Stuart at Canberra.

I don't think Benji deserves the criticism he gets without the foundations around him that other coaches are afforded.

HBG is the biggest problem at the club - fix that, then let's talk about Benji because NO COACH has had success - we'd just be burning another coach for the sake of it.

The problem we have is that the "owners" aren't actually owners. They would not get any benefit from a sale.

It is the worst possible setup imaginable. In there from nepotism and backroom connections, with no incentive at all for them to step away or no people power way to remove them.

I honestly don't know how it's possible legally in a non-profit. Our laws have a massive gap.

As I've been saying in other threads, we need to be self- sustainable and self- governed.

We have some profits now, the NRL grant is increasing so hopefully we can build off the back of that. The NRL grant is massive and in order to help grassroots, even if we underspend the cap and hire someone like DCE on a 1 year 500k contract within the cap so he can coach our Junior levels. Because let's be honest, we cannot hire good coaches at Junior levels with our own money.

I know the HBG members are on the Board and that sucks, but they don't have a say in our day to day things anyway. I hope we can set up an Academy of sorts so players from different teams can learn the same system, halves get halves coaches, forwards get forward coaches etc and a lot more money can be spent in making us professionals and the players educated.

With all different junior teams training at different times and different parts of Sydney, you need a much bigger investment, something we cannot afford. Having less teams overall and more teams under one roof willl help with increasing the support given per team or per player.

Anything strategic runs by them.

Anything day to day is working towards a strategy. By definition, they are involved. They set the agenda.

For a moment, imagine if there was no merger and the NRL team was called the Lions.

Would it be smart to plaster Magpies everywhere and run juniors with a Magpie crest or brand everything Lions? The strategic decisions that are made, would any other club make them if you were to remove Wests/Balmain context?

They have TOTAL CONTROL and ownership...they can do the right things, but everything is done through a Magpie lens.

It’s just an financial asset to them. It doesn’t matter if it succeeds on or off the field which is clear with lack of support they put into the club. I really think our only hope is the NRL taking it over

While I would love to see the NRL take away the ownership from HBG or they decided to sell it to someone, as long as they are doing well financially they can’t take away the license. Only reason V’landys got involved after what happened in December was because the independents were basically unfairly dismissed. While I can’t argue the results of Benji being coach, if we sack him the next coach will inherit a weaker roster than what Benji currently has. Players will walk should Benji get fired we already know the May boys have said if he goes we go possibly even more Benji signings as well and I imagine more of our well known players will follow suit as by now they would have to be sick and tired of the coach merry go round our club is known for. And the players that do walk we won’t replace them with better talent as the good ones won’t even consider coming to us and I don’t blame them, if I was in the NRL I’m 99% confident I wouldn’t even consider a Tigers offer if they came knocking. Some people have said give Benji a job elsewhere in the club, there is absolutely no point in doing so as it won’t attract talent or anything like that, him having a different role doesn’t change the clubs look in anyway whatsoever. HBG are without a doubt a big factor as to why every coach has struggled and why we haven’t played finals in 15 years but the ones that say we’ll be better under a different coach are kidding themselves. Next coach will unfortunately suffer the same thing and in 2-3 years we’ll be calling for his head again.

If that happens I hope they do to if it means guaranteed change. I know under Benji the results haven’t been great but it’s not just him every coach we’ve had since 2012 has lost more games than they won. Sacking Benji under the current system at the club won’t fix it I feel sorry for the next bloke who’s brave enough to take the job.

The issue is ..no coach in any professional sport gets a long period of time in the job when results are , let’s call it what it is,.. dire…couple wooden spoons, 13th and likely second last this year … if Richo was still here Benji would probably be out the door this year ,,,,if it’s the same again next year ( bottom 4) I expect they will cut him… it that means players leave ..then so be it …
