It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Joel, I don't think the confrontational approach towards the HBG taken by many of your followers within this forum is the way to gain a united strategic direction. Maybe there is another way mate.
Given that HBG initiated the confrontational approach by dumping the independent board, it would appear that confrontation is what they understand. What alternative approach would you recommend?

The underlying issue is that in 1999 a landscape was agreed upon. This included, primarily, a 50/50 governance structure and the ongoing existence of the foundation clubs in the second tier comp.

HBG and the Magpies FC cling steadfastly on to this structure.

Obviously, Balmain has essentially disappeared and a heck of a lot of water has gone under the bridge since this deal was done. Simply, it doesn’t work any longer as WT has completely outgrown what was put in place over 25 years ago.

Eventually, natural attrition will wipe out the old and WT will become its own entity, it’s just a matter of how and when we get there.
I mean the people involved. The 20 debenture holders, for some reason, wrestled the club back from an optimal structure, and I don't know if you've managed to contact any of them and find out what story they are telling. Do we have any insight into their psyche or rationale there, and why they still persist as we are today?

I mean, understanding their reasons is probably the best way to make change. I assume it's just ego's / power trippin, but it would be interesting if there is any nuance there. Have you ever seen them open to dialog?

Not the present mob, but previous.

Ideally, yes, but to reach an accord you have to have adults at the table who are willing to sacrifice a little for the greater good.
Are you serious Joel? You are implying that the HBG Board members aren't adults and that you are, and that you're more qualified than chartered accountants, lawyers, and successful businessmen. What are you asking this Board of Directors to do..."hand over the ownership and control of Wests Tigers to you, Darcy Byrne, and other wannabes".

No, Sell the club. HBG and every other stake holder we have had, have all proven time and time again over the past 25 years that they might be great in their fields but are totally out of their depth running an N.R.L franchise. What HBG did last year was judged by anyone with 2 braincells to rub togeather as being the stupidest thing they could have done with the club in the position we were in. Yet they did it. Puerly for control. If they actually cared about the Wests Tigers they would have left the independant board, but instead they chose to blow the joint up so they could maintain control. HBG are a cancer and as long as they are involved with us in anyway, we will never have success.

the independent board and Richo were qualified and moving in the right direction...
That damn Orange jersey...

sell the club and HBG can focus on clubs abd pokies and other sports like soccer

By consensus, mate!
Consensus of whom with whom, mate? Are you really suggesting that HBG will be willing to meet with the fan base, listen to their concerns and act on them? If so, why would they have disrupted the independent operation that was largely running to the satisfaction of the fan base? I dont see HBG reaching out to fans, who are clearly unhappy, to gain some kind of consensus about managing the club and team. To the contrary they appear to be doing as little as possible.

I think the emphasis is on the word
‘adults ‘ , not children that throw their toys out of the cot

are you the same Kev who rings up radio by any chance, a very proud magpie advocate?
Don't listen too the radio mate. I'm not sure what your problem with the Magpies is as they are one of the owners of Wests Tigers. Go find someone else to argue with.

All anyone wants is HBG to reimplement the report.

In terms of their success, sure, they have had ok jobs. They have similar experience to mine, which is not on the same level as other boards. We're running out of flegg-level quality in comparison. Do we want to win? I do. I'm bloody sick of it. Everyone is.

But put the qualifications to the side, do you think the debenture holders are doing the right thing for the club and members, or themselves? I'd honestly love to hear them talk to members and explain. Deal with the problems instead of hiding behind their $100 debenture.

Just cant see what could possibly be done to force HBGs hand to return the independant directors. Even if they did. In typical HBG fashion they wait 1.5 - 2 years for the heat to lower and just oust the independant board again. HBG have to go. Only way there is ever a permanent fix is one where HBG is not involved at all anymore.
New directors or independent board however you want to dress it is a band aid fix lipstick on a pig. need to sell to private preferably laundry but won't happen. Owners too obsessed with a magpie
