Ivan Cleary admits he wants to bring his son Nathan to the Wests Tigers

There's definitely something in this, unless IC has made a mistake in speaking out loud today. EVERY news outlet has picked up the story since the presser - Ch9, SMH, NRL, Fox, Telecrap.

IC is pretty shrewd about what he says and doesn't say in the media, and if you watch the presser, he's really quick to hose down the Luke Brooks story as well as the suggestion he could move to Brisbane. So it strikes me as an intentional move to put a bit more pressure on Penrith.

This should have the press and forum going until Nathan makes up his own mind.

That or he is trying to take the media focus off our team

Another shrewd move as well

What ever happens a Cleary is a winner. All the media attention just raises young NC’s contract value where ever he goes and if he comes to us Ivan’s a winner

If we were forced to choose, I would lean towards Brooks, I like the idea of rewarding loyalty

I'm a fan of getting Cleary to the club but not at the expense of Brooksy. The kid has come leaps and bounds and absolutely loves the club

Plus if you were to rank them up beside each other as of current form Brooks outplays him in just about every facet, all behind a pretty average forward pack

I agree , don’t let Brooks go, Cleary has not been a standout since his knee injury and the loss of RCG, Luke has always done it tough at the Tigers and is now showing what he can do behind some reasonable forwards

Baseless Prediction:

If Panthers bow out in the 2018 finals… Nathan announces he's signed with us in Nov for 2020, we extend Benji and Farah for 2019 and Brooks gets a new contract with us till 2022.

If Panthers win the comp this year (possible but unlikely)... Nathan announces he's signing with us for 2020 in November. Gus then decides to release him early so Panthers can give Jarome Luai the halfback position on a long contract. Wests Tigers now have Cleary, Brooks, Benji and Reynolds for 2019.

Reynolds to Super League in 2020.

You heard it here first.

Big fan of
7\. Cleary
6\. Brooks

This. Cleary to organise, Brooks to play what he sees and run the football.

Reynolds will finish up in the Super League. I realistically don't see him stringing 10 games together.

We are not the Chooks, doubt we can get both Brooks and Cleary into our roster. Be good if we could, but it would probably be at the expense of the overall balance of the squad. No use of having boom half’s without any targets

Wow earth shattering ground breaking game changing revelations

Nothing we didn't already know mate. I'd be looking at Brooks as a 6, when his running game on song he's at his best, and I think a move to 6 would help in that regard.

With Luke’s improved defence this option could be a master stroke …he is NOT a organising half never has been .Has a kicking game and a good runner of the ball ,not a bad set of halves .
Reynolds will not see out his contract dodgey hammies ..shoulders and probable will slot into 14 anyway once Benji goes .interesting times ahead!

Would love to see the interview / show this article comes from.

Id be guessing it was an offhand comment, meaning little.

As for "Brooks is seeking clarification" -
Reporter - , "would you like to stay at the tigers beyond 2019."
Brooks - "yeah"

News report - Brooks calls for contract to be extended now.

Australian journalism is rubbish

Well, that's true. And, it's going to get worse with the Nine takeover of Fairfax.

And the commercialisation of the ABC. Guess we will have to rely on NRL.com.au as a consistent source of truth…....(for the less sarcastic among you - that is a joke)

GOOD NEWS?????
At least we know that IC & NC wont be heading east or north the big problem now is the price and the balance of the team good luck Mr Pascoe I think we need uncle Harry to throw in a unit or two.

We should be able to fit both. Extend brooks with a pay rise to $750k. Can’t see nc coming until 2020\. Gives us time to bulk up our forward stocks. Ic to extend a further 4years sometime in 2019.

lol if both Brooks and Cleary can't be fit in the cap in 2020 we are paying massive overs to some others…

Two things about Brooks:

1) He has improved a lot this year and is getting more and more confident all the time and at what …23 or so? still has his best years in front of him and could still eventually reach that "immortal" status he was unfairly tagged with after 1 first grade game

2) When the other muppets were carrying on holding the club to ransom last year he wanted to sign, probably against the advice of the pimp did sign, then declared he never wanted to leave. He's a Wests Tiger through and through and the fact the kid can play, loves this club and is one of "ours" makes him a priority for me.
