Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

The fact that Ivan is not coming out to address this issue as soon as possible is still painting a pretty bleak picture from the supporters point of view.

I imagine this would need a 100 person PR firm to make sure whatever message is given is produced and manicured. Whichever way its to be portrayed. I don't begrudge the position Ivan finds himself in. Unless this has been going on since the start of the year, Ivan has become a passenger in his sons fame.

If I were on the board, I would make him see out his contract. If he's not available to coach Panthers, Gus will be up the proverbial creek.

Gus worked out Griffin , and when he mentioned about Griffin's bed manner it described him to a tee

Lot of coaches better than Griffin out there

Don’t talk too soon. He might be our coach next week…..

A desperate play to keep Nathan at the panthers? If it works Tigers should snap up the panthers reserve half Lauai straight away. Don't know if Gould would be prepared to suck up enough of his own past BS to get Ivan on board….but maybe. Ivan's' reputation would take a bit of a battering if he reneged on his Tigers deal

100% agree with you on this… If it was true they would of addressed this first thing today to settle everyone down a this is not just a normal story but huge news...

I think they are working out how to tell the fans he is going and to cover face..

I wonder how Ivan will be viewed by Wests Tigers fans if he goes..thanks for all your efforts..

Well Bellamy was offered more to leave the Storm and coach the Broncos but stayed because he was loyal and wanted to continue to develop the Storm players.

I know that Cleary has not been here long but he seems to have the same principals in wanting to develop the players he has brought into the team. He has unfinished work to complete and does not come across as a quitter.

If it is about coaching Nathan I am sure the Tigers will make room and that will not be an issue.

I know Penrith have a better roster than us, but we are getting there and hopefully a better future is not far away.

Gould is shrewd and was right in saying recently that Ivan will coach Nathan and he will not stop him (he had planned to punt Griffin) but the cunning bugger was luring Cleary back to Panthers to accommodate this.

Lets hope that Cleary has the same Loyalty as Bellamy.

You really need to wonder about this?

And not just Tigers fans.

IF he is contemplating leaving, how is the playing group feeling? You know, the ones who were convinced to come here, to be part of something special…....

Regardless of the outcome, I am seriously pi55ed that another club like Penrith just waltzes in and entices someone to break a contract, especially the coach.

That is the lowest of low in my book.

I said before that if Ivan leaves he'd be less popular around here than Slimy Fart, and that's saying something.

I am pissed… This is poaching and the NRL should step in and fine them... The only way this could happen is IF we approved this to happen and if that is the case I will be pissed with our board.. The longer it takes them to come out and update the members and fans the more I feel he is going.. JOKE

I am getting mail and the like from friends family that support other clubs and they can not believe what is happening . If this happens I will
Never be seen the same again.

I don't think this is accurate. Ivan didn't come out straight away to quash the Broncos rumours either.

You don't knee-jerk react to every media speculation, otherwise it's the tail that wags the dog.

Tigers almost certainly caught off-guard by the Griffin sacking, as it appears most people were. Tigers probably ringing all around, back and forward, to decide how to make a longer-detailed statement. Go puts out a mini statement yesterday to reiterate that Ivan is on contract and expected to see that contract out - pretty normal.

Why would Cleary come out this morning in a rush and make statements? He's got a regular coaching presser anyway (today?) and the media will be all over him - he would know this, so why come out earlier to make some comment?

Otherwise you look an idiot like Phil Gould and Brandy, who both came out a few weeks ago and assured everyone that Griffins' job was safe.
