@ said:@ said:Im resigned to the fact Ivan Cleary has made up his mind and will join Penrith.
My reasoning is that he met up with them 2 weeks ago and was presented with an offer. He reported this to the Wests Tigers. Yesterday Phil Gould sacks Griffin and is on record as saying they decided yesterday that Griffin would not be the coach going forward.
Have a good think about that.
They cant have decided yesterday that Griffin wasnt going to be the coach going forward. Thats a lie. They would not have offered Cleary his deal if they hadnt already made up their mind about Griffin!
Gould has been caught in a lie here.
IMO yesterday wasnt the day that they decided to move on Griffin, yesterday was the day Ivan Cleary gave them their answer.
Maybe Monday he gave them his answer, because thats when he informed the board of his meeting
Gus?
Lies?
NO?!?!?!? LOL
@ said:@ said:@ said:@ said:I reckon if he asked for a release he would get one, the same way teams release players that don't want to be here. They can become destabilising, Go and Pascoe's statements can be looked at one of two ways. They can be doing it simply to say to the fans we did what we could but didn't want drama to infiltrate the playing group, or it could be a non story and they are saying it like it is.
I would like to think Ivan is a man of his words and principal but I have a funny feeling Gould will get his way, and we'll be left with the house half built.
Disagree. It sends a message that we can be leaned on and we will crack. Proper clubs when asked to release people important to their success say no and expect the people to act professionally and get on with the job they were hired to do. Our reaction to things like the Kahu and Taupau situations are why someone like Gus thinks we're here for his shopping needs.
So we save face externally, but are stuck with a coach whos heart isnt in it.
Then what?
You expect him to get over it and do his job. Players get turned down for releases regularly and only your Mitchell Moses types don't react professionally. I just think if we roll here we just forget about keeping anyone half decent. First sign of pressure from a big club we will release them. It's about the image we project. I doubt other clubs bother to ask Melbourne or Brisbane to release first graders.

Is that true?
Did Ivan only inform the Wests Board this monday?
@ said:It's funny how the League World works, Gus is not accountable to anything ,he's responsible for extending Griffin's contract till the end of 2020 at the beginning of the year and Griffin has made the finals the last 3 years.
Nice to be in Gus's World
@ said:this father and son thing has really been over the top and quite childish tbh like its overdoing it. They are trying to hard to make it happen and its quite frankly ruining the club which has fully supported Ivan to help make us a premiership force. If he does walk out im done im not going through another 5 years of crap
@ said:@ said:Just watching FOX and the bee sting head Gould interview this morning. He says he issued a twitter statement to Manly fans after the Barrett rumours last week, because Barrett was not going to Penrith and he wanted Manly fans to know…. and I quote..."we were not going to steal their coach"
.......but he is happy to try and steal ours.
If any of you think Gould is a good fella or a decent man or a rugby league guru, have another look. Swearing is banned on our forum so I cant call him the F or the C that I think he is! He is a grub. Filth. Scum.
It's a manifestation of how seriously a lot of the NRL world perceives us compared to other teams. Until we stop bending over backwards to release people under contract because they want to go to a "bigger" club we will always be seen as a club you take what you want from.
I'm glad to see Pascoe's comments. I'd be interested in knowing whether approaching a contracted coach has the same ramifications as approaching a contracted player.
@ said:@ said:Ivan hates Gus. I'm told there's zero chance of him going back to Penrith. Won't happen.
We will see I guess.

If thats the case then Pascoe and Go are also lying when they say they won't release him - lots of lies going down.
No im sure they are genuine.
They dont have to release him.
Doesnt mean that Ivan hasnt agreed to join the Panthers. Its just how he gets out of the contract that Gould, Pascoe, Go etc are playing out now.
