Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

I don’t know Ivan but I’d agree with SG that he seems a man of integrity.
This is the hope I’m clinging to in this situation.
I’m hoping the club has countered the Panthers and offered a 2 year extention to Ivan and continued discussions about Nathan.
Fingers crossed!

What a disgusting situation this scumbag has put has in. The worst possible outcome would have been having his son here, I hope that never happens. Stuff them and their dream, we backed him after Gould humiliated him, and people like me have supported some of his dodgy recruitment and selection calls only to get this.

Best case scenario for the integrity of the game is for us to keep him until Penrith invest in another coach and sack the grub the next day if he is chucking a Moses.

Next best thing, and probably better for us, is to take them to the cleaners in terms of players and cash. Just feeds back into the NRL being a grubby sport though, so I prefer we drag this out and humiliate the Clearys and Gould.

The poor players, probably the most mentally resilient bunch of good blokes who play for each other we've had since Sheens and they have to cop this. I thought Cleary sounded a bit strange saying this group might not be the group we need for success (after he assembled them), now I hope he chokes on a cooked bone like the Dog he appears to be.

From bad to worse with the captain and the other clowns teddy the snake and Moses the fairy bailing on the club…
... To the coach walking out on us too?

Absolute joke.

We've shown we didn't need the "big 3", 2 of them are now known as the big flops, we can do without Daddy too.

Is this the reason we havent signed anyone for next year? How are we going to fill the squad for next year now? Absolute mess

People are missing the point - its more than just losing your coach - the whole Tigers brand would be laughable if they don't take a stand. Its about showing stakeholders and members and other clubs that the years of being a patsy are over. Pascoe has gone out of his way to state this. All that remains is that they stick to their guns. I personally believe Cleary will break his contract and walk with Gould up to his neck in that decision. If this happens the WT have to go hard - sue Cleary, sue Penrith and especially sue Gould. Stuff compensation. This could very well be a defining point in this clubs history.

The fact that Pascoe mentioned in the presser, that he too was sacked by the same CEO during his time @ the Panthers wasn't lost on me either. They've gone & made this personal. I salute Justin for coming out on the front foot & giving the fans what they needed.

You notice the PR machine kick into drive today too? A couple of manacured 1 sentence comments by both CEO & Chairman, and then a really well timed response 1 v 1 with Justin @ the end of the business day/news cycle.

This morning Brent Read questioned Ivan's integrity if he left the club, and now there's the article about how we can feasiby set up the chess board if we take it all the way to litigation. I'm actually proud of the club tonight. As I mentioned earlier, this is gotten personal now. Careers are on the line. We've got leverage 4 once now too. We gotta go all in boys & stop being emotional.

Good post.

Game changer on his way?

Former half who plays fullback sadly barba wasn’t allowed back. Was on the cards though. Mbye decent.

As for Ivan. Relax.

I was holding out waiting for Ivan to say something before sticking the slipper in, I am still of that belief, but if you know something there are heaps of other people with far less patience than me that need reassuring.

This was an all or nothing play from Penrith to keep Nathan. But really it comes down to Pascoe and go. I **know Ivan well enough to know he’s a man of integrity and would be out of character for him to request to leave.**

I have to say that this is how I see him and what has transpired is not consistent with his standing in rugby league. I understand the Panthers are going all out to keep Nathan Cleary but the damage done to our season and brand is appalling and the club must make an example of the Panthers via legal remedy.

Agree, handled much better than the last time we had a bunch of high profile sooks. Il back the club to the hilt as long as the leadership come out and defend the business like they have today.

Well, Pascoe was adamant that Wests Tigers "would not be granting a release to Ivan Cleary". So by that quote, one might assume that … 1) Ivan asked for a release, and, 2) Was told 'no'.
If that assumption is correct, then I am really disappointed in Ivan. But am very pleased in Pascoe's and Go's stance.
And I am particularly aggrieved at Penrith's attack on our club - and that is what it amounts to. So screw Penrith and screw Gould!

I read Pascoe had said that if a release was sought, that it wouldn't be granted. Consider it a shot across the bows of the SS Panther.

Pascoe hasn’t sat on his hands today. He cancelled meetings to focus on this and nip it in the bud. From all I’ve gathered I’d say it’s a bit more than a coin flip that he stays. But if he goes it will be for a Kings ransom. And not just financial compensation. Will be players involved

Déjà Vu wasn’t the Sheens re-signing before a Canberra match in which we won when this was a distraction that week leading up

Fresh from inking a new deal that will tie him to the Wests Tigers until the end of 2014, Tim Sheens revealed that he still has some unfinished business at the club.

Sheens knocked back a huge offer to return to Penrith, reportedly worth $2 million over four years, in favour of a three-year deal with the Tigers and he admitted a big factor behind his decision to stay was the impressive young group of players coming through.

Why don't we boycott the game against the Dragons to show our disapproval.

I hear your emotion, but the club isn't about anyone individual. Regardless of the coach, there will be a team running out in our colours and will be there to cheer them on.

The tigers will not lose in this situation. They have ALL the leverage. Relax.

We know they have all the leverage in this “ deal “… it’s the long term collateral damage if he goes that worries us more
