Hilarious if true.

Gus is a con man though. I wouldn’t take believe him as far as I can throw him.

Same mate, cant trust anything this grub has to say.

Obviously Nathan is about to re dig so he doesn’t need Ivan as a bait

Or it’s completely blown up in his face. If Cleary stays on, and extends, we are still odds on to get Nathan.

Are we missing a key point here?
Gus has stated the Panthers have not made any offer to Ivan.

NOW:
Gus says he doesn’t think Ivan will ask for a release.

You normally don’t ask for a release if there is no offer.

Gus is twisting himself in knots, he can’t ‘lie’ straight in bed.

Ivan will be P*#$$ off after hearing Gus's pod
It's very belittling of Ivan and I don't think you will hear much from Ivan because he wants Nathan for next year and Gus has to give the release

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Panthers CEO confirmed they offered Ivan a 4 year deal. So whose lying?

Marina Go looking real classy for sure, integrity and honor is how she described Cleary tonight.

Just watched the replay on Fox and have to agree.
Very impressive and ticked all the boxes.
That and what I say from the sacked coach interview on NRL 360 and we definitely come up smelling roses and the Panthers admin and the Juno community in this town in the doghouse.
What a beat up and they all starting to backslide and scurry for their holes now!

At around 25.25 in the pod cast Gus starts to say contact offer to Ivan and retracts

Like super coach like Gould is digging his own grave here.

He was happy to say he knew nothing about Ivan.

Throwing the Chairman under the "BUS" so to speak.

Yet Griffin says its Gould club and he makes every single decisions. Its laughable to suggest he know nothing about Ivan being courted.

By the off chance he knew nothing then its embarrassing from him that people are looking to appoint a coach without approaching him?

Even if he gets Ivan he will have the media all over him for poor conduct, that fact he didn't even know and the fact that Griffin has said he is very difficult to work with.

If he misses Ivan it will be even more of a circus as he has sacked a coach because of it and missed his main target.

Gould has made a real mess of things for himself. Let it continue,

What ever happens here the club has handled themselves professionally. ThIs can only be helpful when negotiating with players and coaches in the future. The place has turned around a lot in the last couple of years.

So how long do they give Cleary till they look elsewhere?
Cleary needs to knock them back before they pursue someone else so until that happens there is still an offer in play.
Gould maybe having second thoughts based on the reactions, and so might Ivan he was just smart enough to say nothing.

He probably anticipated us just rolling over once Cleary asked for a release, because that’s the norm these days when a release is asked for. If it had gone down like that, the media would have moved onto the next shiny object within a week. But because Go and Pascoe showed some backbone, it’s now looking like Penrith are the school yard bully trying to take the nerds lunch money. As you say, from here, it’s a PR disaster for Penrith regardless.

Ok, I thought Gus then refuted the offer, anyhow we’ll never really know for sure

Quote from Foxsports.com

“Griffin confirmed he and Gould sometimes went up to six weeks without speaking, and Gould tried to undermine him by speaking to coaching staff without Griffin’s knowledge or consent”

A general manager doesn’t need to ask permission to speak to anyone in an organisation. The only managers who act this way are control freaks and typically are insecure about their relationship with their team (in this case coaching staff)

Based on the above I am now reducing how much weight Griffins comments have on my opinion.

I am not a Gould fan but…

The Chairman and Ivan are mates
The Chairman has likely pushed for Ivan’s return
Gould hates Griffin and goes along with it

I struggle to see the scenario where Gould orchestrates it.
I can see that he go behind it, eg “we will release Nathan if he wants to move to play for his dad”.

I’m so torn. Gould has had this coming for years but ironically is probably copping far more now than he deserves. I may still be okay with that

Stark contrast from watching 360 last night bit of Penrith compassion and then after watching the hook interview Ikin saying why would you want to coach at Penrith the environment is toxic and Kent and co in agreement.
I know who has come out of this with his head held high, definitely not Gus, probably not Ivan it's the man that's now unemployed.
Gould is an absolute flog and I hope that him and "his" club get exactly what they deserve.

I heard a rumour that Channel nine is buying Fairfax.

Could this be why the Tele has turned on Gould? It’s like they have gone POSTAL

This time last night I was resigned to the fact Cleary had snubbed us.
Last night: 95/5 Cleary goes.

Now we are back in the ring.

The Gould, Griffin and Go interviews all make Gould look like a lying, manipulative narcissist.

Also paints a picture that Cleary may not be as keen to move on as first thought

AND

if he was, after hearing from Griffin, he’d be bloody mad to go work under Gould.

Tonight’s verdict: 60/40 Cleary stays

One person I definitely feel sorry for is Gus's dentist. His breath must reek with the amount of rubbish he talks.
