Ivan Cleary

@Tiger_Steve
Beat me to it. Gained his acting credentials at Concord. Cool as a cucumber, but only because he didn't really give a toss.
Now that sonny boy and daddy's reps are on the line it's panic time. Pull out all the stops. His rep is in tatters anyway what has he got to lose?
Meanwhile back at the ranch; Big Gus chuckles softly to himself.

Cleary cleared over halftime chat, what a joke, if that was us we would have got numerous sanctions

Whitewash, it’s not about being consistent it’s about looking after our mates.
Also protecting the ones the NRL wants to.

All I can say is the NRL have now set the standard- fair game now for the refs to be 'queried' at halftime by the coaches if they feel like it. Good for one, good for all. NRL are gooses.

OK .....so the Fifita's swear at a ref and get 6 weeks

Iv has been involved with the refs before coaching us and is on some rules board swears at a ref and gets no punishment

I’m starting to think the ‘cool cat’ image is just a facade. Under pressure he’s a lying, swearing, bad tempered grub - all proven. Remember Ivan, true character is determined by how you act when no one is looking!

Never a truer statement made, I’ll also just leave this lil side note...The meaning of a con artist -
A person who deceives other people by making them believe something false.

To be fair, how do you punish a bloke that is already getting around without a spine?

This bloke is contradicting himself?? on NRL360 he said that it is against the rules for a coach to approach the officials at half time and the case will be investigated... that alone deserves a penalty... even with the use of foul language towards the officials, he still gets no penalty. Also, since when does their need to be a complaint from the refs for a sanction to take place? This game is run by a bunch of jokes.

Maybe, Dare I say it...It’s a thank you to the whistle blower from Greenberg, you scratched our back here’s yours in return.

@Tigerlily what does that mean ??

I might be alluding to person (whistle blower) whom leak the Pascoe/Farah contract fiasco drama etc etc to the Nrl. Again speculation in pointing the finger but Cleary makes for a bloody good target.

@Tigerlily hahaha my goodness
I’d nearly forgotten all about that
Thank you, now to spew more hate upon his unholy name! 👺🙎🏽‍♀️

Makes sense, and makes me want Penrith to fail even more so now, my second favourite team is whoever is playing Penrith

Ivan Cleary cleared by NRL over half-time referee approach

The NRL has decided not to take action against Ivan Cleary, despite allegations the Penrith coach approached the referees at half-time of Sunday’s loss to Canberra.
The NRL interviewed Cleary as part of an investigation into allegations he launched a verbal tirade at the officials in the tunnel during the break.
However, they have decided against a sanction, with the Penrith coach allegedly disputing the reports about what he said.
NRL head of football Graham Annesley has spoken with Cleary, warning the Penrith coach not to leave himself in a position that leaves his actions open to question.

An NRL spokesperson confirmed the NRL would not be issuing a breach notice under the circumstances.
"There were a number of conflicting versions about the events in question," the spokesperson said.
"There were no complaints from the match officials. Additionally, neither referee was aware of any comments directed at them by Ivan Cleary.
"It is however a timely reminder that coaches should not place themselves in a position where they might be perceived to be approaching referees during matches."
Cleary in his post-match press conference claimed there was not "anything untoward" about his behaviour.
His half-time approach came as Penrith stand-in captain James Maloney engaged in a running battle with Klein throughout the first half of the Raiders win.
Cleary claimed he had been directing his regular skipper James Tamou to raise an issue with Klein as the pair were in deep conversation while walking up the tunnel, and conceded on Sunday that he had spoken to match officials at this point.

Wouldn't put it beyond the pumpkin head Andy Raymond to embellish what was said..

Surely not, I seen Ikin asking Raymond on the live telecast, and Raymond saying he can't repeat what was said, so I guessed it was swearing

Was it directed at the match officials or his player to pass on a message..
