Ivan Cleary

This could also be just a ratings grab by Fox, create some drama and have it aired out on tv, with Ivan the Grub getting some dollars in his bank account for playing the role of the villain.

Never forget the NRL is basically a big side show

I think he did alright while he had his mind on the job. Was never a fan of his signings, from the get go but we did put together some good performances - beat the Roosters for the first time in years. Lost me when the focus became more about Nathan, and his obsession about coaching him. As soon as Griffin was sacked he was lost to us and it was so obvious. Now can't bear to listen to anything he has got to say, and realize he is definitely not the coach we needed.

I'm with you. For a long time I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I don't know why, felt kind of foolish in the end. As for the signings, I was in board with those too as I thought that they would be fit. Never really dawned on me just how wrong I could be on that front. No matter who the coach is, you have to believe they have the clubs best interest at heart. I think ol' Ivan only had his own best interests at heart.

This interview with Cleary and Paul Kent is a crock of crap

Last night we have Kent tell us no subject is off limits and then tonight on the podcast he says "well their were personal things that Iv brought up I didn't touch "

Seriously Kent you knob .....do you think we are all tools ....

I share your sentiments. I think that is why he is so hated, everyone had the trust in him to come and turn things around here and be in it for the long haul. To be crapped on the way we were by him has totally shattered any positive views I previously held of him.

The Channel 9 show is just as bad

Proof of what FTA and Fox thinks of it's footy fans

Actually the NRL in general ....assume we all have IQ's in low double digits who don't give a poo about the game and its true roots

Well the thing is, happy, that I had a revelation earlier this year when perusing FTA TV, which I basically never watch apart from rugby league. There was just so much crap on all the channels, Fox included.

Fox and FTA need to sell ads and/or subscriptions, thus they need maximum viewership for minimal overhead. IF Fox and FTA are putting crap on every night that appears to cater for low-IQ morons, it is very likely that market forces and/or predictive research are telling these companies that such content does sell, or at least is the most cost-effective.

Fox and FTA don't intentionally put out content that nobody will watch. Similarly the NRL wouldn't be on TV at all if nobody was interested in selling ads.

Therefore, unfortunately, the only logical assumption you can make is that the majority of viewers *are* actually low-IQ morons who watch stuff like Married At First Sight.

You only have to do the mildest amount of research to see the steaming piles of entertainment crap that many people happily consume - Kardashians, Bachelor, TV Week, Women's Day, at least 50% of everything on youtube, Jerry Springer-type shows, A Current Affair, Cheaters, Dating Naked, Dancing W Stars, Australian Idol, Beauty and Geek, Temptation Island, Farmer Wants Wife etc. etc. etc.

I would also submit that in light of the wide variety of on-demand products available to modern users, it would be far less likely that people are watching NRL 360 just because there is nothing else on, which was part of the excuse in decades past.

I don't watch 9 or Fox, except when actual games are on. I'm blissfully ignorant to what journos like Kent are like.

Meh - I think NRL 360 is the best league show.

Covers all the important news in the game and on every team.

Don't care too much about all their opinions, but they have interesting things to say most of the time - I just don't take it as gospel.

Whilst I'm with you on most things, this time around assuming that only low IQ people watch those trashy shows. I can't stand the vast majority of them. Although I do enjoy Ninja Warrior. But I'm pretty sure stupid shows and stupid people aren't mutually exclusive. I used to have Fox until I had to make a few financial cutbacks a few years back and realised I really didn't need to see as much footy and footy related shows as I thought i did. Can't say I miss it either. But on the whole, I reckon 360 was pretty good.

@jirskyr
Wholeheartedly agree re FTA and Fox. We only watch it when we are staying at holiday accommodation in brief intervals between doing holiday things. Each time we do, we are reminded of the mindless drool that most of the population must consume with relish, otherwise it wouldn't be there.

@jirskyr Lmfao. One of the worst, least factual and unintelligent posts I’ve read all year. The roles have definitely been reversed and Union is the game that nobody clicks over to watch on TV anymore - they still advertise the same moronic shows and have clubs populated by the same idiotic people. The changes in Rugby League revenue/viewership numbers is down to the administration of the game.

Do not bother arguing with me on that fact, however, will admit that a lot of completely mentally redundant men play both sports - this though reflects nothing on the power brokers of said clubs and the fans or membership holders within each.

The reason crap sells so often now is yes, obviously technology, you must be Sherlock Holmes!!!! Think anybody in their right mind (minimal or off-the-chart IQ) would be keen getting down to ANZ on a Thursday night to see a team like the Bulldogs/Souths play?

There is your answer, friend!

Almost everybody is capable of being ignorant or putting up with crap in the pursuit of finding a way to numb our boredom in a whirlwind of the modern day Rat race... however, it has nothing to do with intelligence and for you to blanket RL like that as a whole is the former^

Even if you didn’t directly mean fans but the people who consume it regularly, you are saying the facts CLEARLY state we are all “morons with low IQ”. I usually agree with you mate

That’s complete bullshit though.

No offence but I literally don't understand what point you are making, so I cannot offer an intelligent response.

It was tongue-in-cheek mate; my sisters are highly intelligent and watch lots of trash TV.

@jirskyr as I said, the most idiotic and unintelligent post i’ve Seen all year, comparing the people that watch Rugby League (on TV or in person) to advertising demands and quota’s and what people will be led to consume on mass by the media. There is no simple formula for that and nobody agreed with you that it has to do with intelligence... your point was debated and disproved (and several agree with me).

You offer somewhat well thought - if maybe stating the obvious - points usually... not this time Chief. Appreciate the response anyway, helpful as always @jirskyr
