I want JAC here I do, but I just hope people realise that he alone isn't the answer.

He wasn't bad last night, but had no impact on the game and he will be playing like that every week for us because we don't have the players he needs around him.

If we're looking at JAC as a fullback then I think the better signing with more upside is Charlie Staines who has far more recent experience as fullback in the Panthers system, is tall, quick and powerful, and probably comes at half the price.

I think we need both.
Our backline is then set for immediate future.
If the cap numbers fall to 28 the players like Cini, Bradley and Maden are offered send tier contracts and have to fight their way into top squad via lower grades..... their existing minimal contracts are paid out.

I agree with Madden but even now it is clear Kepaoa, Kei and Rizk are up the pecking order in terms of outside back options. All ooze skill, power and pace.

agree, wont have the same impact a similar quality half or forward could have.

Hope he comes, hope we can find a way to jag staines also. Big wraps for a long time and showed enough in a few games

This is a current origin level player we can’t be picky. We need guys like him at the club we are desperate for a big name signing

Desperation leads to big errors.

Adam Blair springs to mind.

JAC would give us creditability we desperately need. Others will follow in time.

Great credibility breaking Covid restrictions and gun laws.

People are too worried about our past ‘big signings’ the difference is this guy is a genuine Australian level player right now. If he came here, he’s still gonna be a great player, that’s not really a worry at all.

Blair was an International as well. Look how that turned out.

I tend to agree. Staines has always been a fullback and is very highly rated.

Backline of:

1. Staines
2. Nofoaluma
3. Leilua
4. Talau
5. JAC
6. AD
7. Brooks

Would be pretty good.

yes please. Addo-Carr can certainly do a pre-season at the back and potentially prove his worth but Staines would be brilliant, could also play wing if in fact JAC beats him to the punch. the dogs may have the jump on us in terms of Barrett being in Staines's ear at Penrith, but Canterbury are stacked for outside backs and need to throw money at a 6 and 9. hopefully Madge and Hartigan sell Staines the dream and he ends up here.

It’s pretty obvious JAC is no Blair - when JAC made his debut for us he looked special let alone now after years of improvement. He has pace and freaky try scoring ability that won’t just disappear. If you keep that mindset we will never improve too scared of signing high level players and eternally be a team full of reserve graders

I rate Talau highly I believe he can be an Origin Level Centre in 18 months. The Fox is already at that level.

I have two issues:
1) Talau performance vs Cap Number will be much better than the Fox due to salaries.
2) It sends a horrible message in terms of the way we are building with the likes of Aloai, Twal, Blore, McIntyre etc.

Looking at it another way I’d prefer to keep Talau and sign Staines on a cheaper deal if he’s available.

I hope we get the Fox great to watch and an absolute speed demon but we have to play it safe. We have screwed our selves year after year.

Go hard for both.

Yes to that except apparently Carr wants fullback and Id put Staines there if we had that luxury

As I said bring both JAC and Slater to the WT's

No reason JAC can't learn the positional dilemnas of playing fullback and he is certainly vocal enough to make a good fullback

As long as he is prepared to take a trainee fullbacks money for year 1 and be upgraded IF he makes it as a fullback from there on

If not he gets paid as arguably one of the better wingers in the NRL

Does that sound fair everyone ??

JAC would certainly supply the X Factor we currently lack, either on the wing or possibly at fullback. Our reported offer of the fullback job is looking like the prime attraction for him to pick us as against other possible destinations.

I know you keep talking about Kei but it's highly likely he won't be contracted to us moving forwards. If the NRL drops squad sizes and development player positions then we'd have no room to sign him unless he stays on a magpies contract.

If dev players are capped at 4 i think we already have 3 for next season. Rizk, Camroux and Lui. Kei could be fourth and final but also depends who we're looking to recruit he won't get an nrl contract next season unless someone like bradley can find another to take him, which seems highly unlikely.

In a way the lack of CC this year might keep him hidden from other clubs so he might stay on a lower level contract and look to sign on in 2022.

I am very concerned that this Very good player looking for a fat contract and that the Tigers are going to overpay again.

The one thing that the club should learn is that overpaying players stops you developing a quality squad.

I'd love him here on fair dollars. He is a top quality winger and we should pay him based on his current proven ability and form and not potentially a fullback.

I also think maybe AD will be a better option at fullback.

Blair was mentioned as the best forward in the game. I saw him play some great games. Any marquee player is a risk. A marquee player who wants to play fullback and get paid for it when he is completely unproven at NRL level in that role is a massive risk.

We need to be careful.

With all the rhetoric that's been thrown around from management about only paying what players are worth, I'd be very disappointed if JAC gets lures here on fullback money.
He simply isn't one.
Not to say that he can't be, but he isn't.

The chances of Kei not been contracted to us are extremely remote to non existent. Kei imo is right up there and an integral part of our NRL backline moving forward. I think you will find new recruits being offered development contracts for 2022 as. has occured previously. Actually it wouldn't surprise me if Kei was given an NRL spot.
