Clearly we are out of the JAC stakes and I thought I would be pissed about it but I have no problem with us going in another direction with Daine Laurie as he is cheaper and wants to come here plus that extra money can be spent on another top line player.

Pretty sure the WT offer was inclusive of FB incentives $2.7m over 4 years.

It’s clearly been leaked by the dogs . Apparently 2 mil over 3 years (I’m taking it 500k was fullback incentives) , is worse than 2 mil over 4 years.
Someone hasn’t taught the people involved about how divisions work .

And it may also have been click bait. Well, at least we gave them a good mix of numbers so they realise we don’t have any idea. ?

They are offering him double the pay of the best player in the game. That sounds completely above board.

The post said $2 million per season. I think the article says $2 million over 4 years.

I really think we should be able to match that amount easily but at the same time I don't care. I read the article and it's like they've been on here to get their news. The Tigers get treated like doormats.

I'm happy to not sign a marquee player ever and just focus on good juniors.

So you’re happy with constant mediocrity? That would be an improvement for this club

I think the way to constant mediocrity is signing players on overs. I don't think marquee signings are the way to ensure long term success.

Hartigan has huge wraps on Laurie.

Agreed. Look at the Storm. I wstched the highlights of Laurie and the kid plays so direct but also has soft hands. Hel be a ripper in 1-2 years.

The Storm build exactly how we need too. I'm okay with marquee signings but geez you gotta get that contract right. It's risky.

I don't know how good Laurie will be but those are the signings that Melbourne make.

We’ve signed a fullback and there’s a lot of good wingers available to sign in 2022 who won’t be as expensive and cause us media drama.

Don’t blame Lee for coming out and putting it to bed

Don't really care about the outcome of this anymore, we've made some decent, cheap signings that could pay off.

BUT - it just doesn't make any sense to me that someone like JAC would take the same or less to go to the Bulldogs over us. They're in just as bad spot as we are if not worse.

Also all the rubbish about him loving the Tigers and coming back one day.

It really is frustrating, all signs pointed to it being done. Someone or some people are really trying hard to make sure we don't succeed.

Just a hunch, but I reckon Lee coming out saying publicly that we are out of the chase for JAC, means Nofo has agreed to terms. I reckon we would be keeping our options open if we were a chance of losing Nofo.

I’d say your spot on mate.

Winger has become a crucial position.
Nowadays a strong winger makes a team.
Hit ups, line breaks, speed, spectacular finishes- wingers are bludgers no more.

IMO outside of the spine, it is the most important position in today’s game.

And JAC is hands down the best winger I have seen in many years.

In Origin I couldn’t believe that he didn’t get more ball - he was incredibly penetrating, always dangerous.

Anyone suggesting that he isn’t worth top dollar please reconsider. JAC absolutely is top top drawer.
Throw the chequebook at him.

Lee can put his foot in it.....

Honestly, anyone that would prefer Laurie to Jac has rocks in their head and exhibits the loser mentality that's plagued this club for a decade. One is one of the best players in the world, the other is a 21 year old who's played 2games. One signing is a player who can help team's win the comp, the other might help them in a few years. What do we want to be competitive now or in a few years?

While Laurie does look very talented, we've been relying on talented youngsters to lead us to glory for 15 years now. Talented kids is only part of the journey for us, we also need some elite talent to help the kids develop into future stars, us make the finals and be more desirable and successful

As a winger yes. Not as a fullback. We be paying overs for a player learning his craft. Km sorry but im sick of that. Offer him 550k as awinger only and be done with it.

Unfortunately signing Nofoaluma is Plan. C when what is needed is Plan A. Our pace in the backs is reliant upon Roberts staying on field, a rookie in Kepaoa and also Brooks. Also maybe Laurie who looks more like a 6 if he can obtain a release. At some stage our club needs to invest heavily in pace in the ouside backs.

Common BB, we'll get the usual club spiel media release that BJ is the new JAC; that he has totally reformed, he's no longer one on-field meltdown waiting to happen.

we can get nofo for 450k or JAC for potentially 500k
it says plenty about this club lol

RE: JAC

The Daily Telegraph reported that Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis said that the club was now out of the running.

“We are only interested in engaging with players who want to come and play for us,” he said. “And if the perception is the player doesn’t wish to come to the Wests Tigers because their manager doesn’t engage with us, well, that is fine by us. I am not going to lose any sleep over it and we move on to greener pastures.”

We are a tortured lot who find ways to cope with disappointment. I doubt there is a fan at this club who wouldn't be ecstatic if JAC signed.
