I would have loved JAC but life goes on. We’ve recruited well this off-season IMO but with JAC definitely not coming we need to find some speed somewhere.

Just a hunch, but I reckon Lee coming out saying publicly that we are out of the chase for JAC, means Nofo has agreed to terms. I reckon we would be keeping our options open if we were a chance of losing Nofo.

Unfortunately signing Nofoaluma is Plan. C when what is needed is Plan A. Our pace in the backs is reliant upon Roberts staying on field, a rookie in Kepaoa and also Brooks. Also maybe Laurie who looks more like a 6 if he can obtain a release. At some stage our club needs to invest heavily in pace in the ouside backs.

Just so I understand correctly. You would be happy to let Nofa go if he wants a cent more than his current contract which let’s assume is 450k. You also mentioned you a proud of the clubs stance on having a ceiling on player worth.

Are you also suggesting we should pay JAC the 750-800k it would take to land him here?

Nofa for 450k is meh . Try and haggle it down if you can , but at the s of the day , it’s not the worst contract in the world . I mean we just carried McQueen for his whole contract , and he played like what 10 games

Honestly, anyone that would prefer Laurie to Jac has rocks in their head and exhibits the loser mentality that's plagued this club for a decade. One is one of the best players in the world, the other is a 21 year old who's played 2games. One signing is a player who can help team's win the comp, the other might help them in a few years. What do we want to be competitive now or in a few years?

While Laurie does look very talented, we've been relying on talented youngsters to lead us to glory for 15 years now. Talented kids is only part of the journey for us, we also need some elite talent to help the kids develop into future stars, us make the finals and be more desirable and successful

It would be loser mentality to keep going after JAC after he disrespected us and didn’t even bother to attend the meeting with us after origin.

Winger has become a crucial position.
Nowadays a strong winger makes a team.
Hit ups, line breaks, speed, spectacular finishes- wingers are bludgers no more.

IMO outside of the spine, it is the most important position in today’s game.

And JAC is hands down the best winger I have seen in many years.

In Origin I couldn’t believe that he didn’t get more ball - he was incredibly penetrating, always dangerous.

Anyone suggesting that he isn’t worth top dollar please reconsider. JAC absolutely is top top drawer.
Throw the chequebook at him.

we can get nofo for 450k or JAC for potentially 500k
it says plenty about this club lol

Normally i would agree with you, but not this time. It is clear for whatever the reason may be that JAC or his management are no longer interested in our club ( and may never have been). At some point you have to show some pride instead of begging and stand up. The club has been very forthright in it's attempts to get him but the JAC crew don't even talk to us now.

I would never bag him out as a player but he has no genuine interest in coming here ( based on his actions) So move on.

If you are comparing the two, that is a nonsense. You and I both know one is an elite player while the other is a club player. You need to pay to attract the best. In addition, Nofoaluma has been on overs on his last contract and performed only this year in attack. His defence was the usual standard. If the reported $450pa is correct he should have taken at least $50kpa cut. In summary, I'd have no issue moving Nofoaluma on, with his right side partner BJ following him out the door.

Have we given the media the news we are no longer chasing JAC? It is all over 9 news.

Yes..when managers don't show for planned meetings you get that..

Crichton or Staggs, can both play centres or fullback.Laurie is unprovan atFB'.and could play halves if needed.Iwould throw the bank at Crichton, and i don;t think the chocolate soldiers can compete

Crichton and Staggs are as unproven as Laurie at fullback

Both Crichton and Staggs are the type of player we need,i believe they played some FB and would be open to do it again,Crichton is once in a lifetime player and with Tamou,Blore, and Laurie on the books we may be a chance.

Salary cap issues have affected most sides in the comp.Is it possible to put KPIS in the contracts to stop the rort thats going on at the moment.EG; except for injury if a player plays less then 50% of 1st gde games, the contract becomes null and void?

This was in Fox news this morning:

He had been putting feelers out in a move to Sydney to be closer to family, Addo-Carr was pursued by the Wests Tigers and Canterbury Bulldogs while South Sydney were also floated as a landing point.

Having made his debut for the Wests Tigers in 2016 before moving to the Storm, Addo-Carr has been forward about moving to fullback, with the position seen as a more lucrative position that on the wing.

The Daily Telegraphreported that **Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis said that the club was now out of the running.**

“**We are only interested in engaging with players who want to come and play for us,**” he said. “**And if the perception is the player doesn’t wish to come to the Wests Tigers because their manager doesn’t engage with us,** well, that is fine by us. I am not going to lose any sleep over it and we move on to greener pastures.”

The report also said the Newcastle Knights were making a surprise play for Addo-Carr as well.

For once - I hope he is right.

We just got rid of a sook to Manly - we don't need a dope - Hit the road JAC.

Exactly. If you aren't ready to move forward with signing a contract we will look at other opportunities. If you are interested at a later point in time come back to us. We should then offer less than what we initially offered by at least 10%.

Surely, taking a leaf from Bennett and Crowe, that means that JAC is a certainty to be a Wests Tigers’ in 2022.

The wording is pretty strong, I'd wager it's a done and dusted and JAC wont be back. Onwards and upwards.

When NO definitely means yes?

I thought our original offer to JAC was bigger than the dogs mammoth offer, but maybe they changed there minds and looking at other positions?

I said earlier, get him and tell Nofo we have withdrawn our offer to him and then we can afford everyone?

Yes, if we move Nofo on, we would have no problems.
IMO elite players make other players look at us instead of listening to the noise of others.
We only need one or two and we have a very capable team to take on all comers.
