All players salary’s should be made public as well as TPA’s

Then when the 9 Million dollar Tigers get pumped by the 12 Million dollar Roosters it’ll be justified.

The RLPA strongly disagree. Doing it would have its positives and negatives, the players themselves will cop a lot more abuse off fans, but it would be nice as a paying member to see how the club uses its salary cap so I can see if they’re making dumb decisions or not

Who cares if players cop more abuse from fans .. they are payed to entertain the fans .
The way it is now with all the speculation doesn’t work .
Transparency is the answer .

Unfortunately some idiots take it way take it too far. Death threats, abusing players family etc. I’d like to know more about the cap but can understand why the players don’t want it public.

Players don’t want it because they know they’re involved in a rort !

If a player is happy to make a motza and be in the limelight they should also understand what the cons are ..
If they can’t handle some flack then they need to find another line of work .

No one deserves death threats to them and their family just because they get paid good and play footy.

Even just a breakdown of the salary cap without showing players names would be better than what we’ve got now though. Like shows what the 30 players are on but doesn’t name them

C’mon mate ..
Death threats ...that’s a bit of a Stretch

Apart from Hayne getting shot at I can’t recall a player being threatened will his life

I thought I remembered Benji just missed getting shot at years ago at the Cross.

That was Hayne from memory.

Mark gasnier there also I think??

Can't really remember it exactly. Maybe bikie related?

I can definitely remember gasnier had something happen in the cross about the same time. Memory is not as good as it used to be though

“Four toey humans ready to spurt sauce” ring a bell? Classy stuff.

We are like one of the only sports leagues in the world witha closed off , fixed team lineup every year ( no relegation) , that doesn’t have a draft . It’s seriously head scratching . You have a draft and trades , and make the salaries transparent , and it’s happy days . So what if people know that josh Reynolds is on 800k ?

People knew Nicholas Batum was on 29 million , and riding the pine for the Charlotte hornets . It’s not his fault ,it’s his clubs . Or that Tom Brady was taking 10 mil pay cuts , cause he knew he’d make it back up in endorsements , and he wanted that money to improve the team .

It only matters if you’re shady , and worried about being caught .

Absolute NO - that's NO to a draft from me. Under NO circumstances.

Because no one should be made to go and play for someone they don't want to, go to a place they don't want to be, or be separated from friends and family if they don't want to be.

It's usually more like the $7.5m Tigers

Well, in recent times it has been more like the $7.5m value Tigers with the rest of the cap paid in overs.

I disagree with this logic . It’s all part of the draft process anyway . Unless there’s a clear number 1 eg Benji in 03 or Fifita in 2018 , or Ponga in 2017, It’s not really an issue . You interview your most likely candidates , and determine who best fits your team , and who actually wants to come . You trade down , if you can’t come to terms with the number 1 .
The value on players in a draft would be astronomical. So teams would be downright negligible to draft a player who doesn’t want to come .
If a player doesn’t want to , they refuse pre- draft workouts , make sure thier management let it known , and so forth. If that’s still not a deterrent, then they pull out of the draft .
I’m sure there would be age restrictions , so the player would then have to weight up a guaranteed contract , in the top 30 , or remove themselves , go back to amateurs and re declare , or they sign a reserve grade non guaranteed contract .
What your saying isn’t accurate at all .
Eg. The most famous one I know is John Elway in the NFL.
But Steph curry refused workouts with many teams to try and force his way onto the knicks at pick 8 or something , and the Warriors picked him at 7 . In the end , he signed with them , as despite all the games , he saw how much the warriors wanted him , to potentially waste thier pick on him. And the rest is history .

What ? I’m explaining to you how drafts work . How they actually function . And US sports are an easy go t😵n the surface you can force a kid to sign . But you actually can’t . If they don’t want to ply for you , in other leagues they holdout , or go back to amateurs . So why would you draft someone , say with your number 1 pick , and that’s at pick 10 . So your picking 1 of the best 10-15 players in the world , why would you waste it on someone who doesn’t want to come . When if you nail it , that could be a franchise cornerstone .

Also what about when we lose a star and it guts the team . Like when Tedesco left . Much like the AFL now , you could have a system where there’s some compensation for a developed player from the amateur draft , say a couple extra draft picks . To ease that burden . Is that a bad thing ?
The roosters could win now and we have to rebuild with 2 extra quality draft picks . Not what happened where we were gutted and left with nothing .

We are stuck with the current system while ever it suits Nick Politis. Them Rorters signing Tedesco and Suaali in the same off season is everything that is wrong with rugby league and the reason people on here are talking about NFL drafts. As a kid RL was everything to me, now it’s not even my favourite sport.

I have turned to NFL mate, there is endless content to follow and I love the draft system and the transparency around transfers/contracts. It’s fun to follow the games and the off field stuff nearly as much. Watching kids come through college into NFL is cool too. I just find league is nothing but a business all set up for a couple of wealthy men and corporations. And the slimy player managers.
