Relax people. Que Sera Sera.

I'm the same. People on here with supposed inside info told us to relax, we have LM. Now they're telling us the same with JAC.

I get interested again when the trials start.

Souths will get him because they’re actually willing to give Melbourne a player. We will miss out because of it. Stupid management really.

JAC will take a pay cut to go to Souths either way. Rusty will make sure he earns fullback money off the record

Some people are definitely too worried about Souths, scarred from the LM fiasco

Nothing to do with Latrell, got to do with the fact that Souths might actually give Melbourne a player. That’s what will give them JAC if they decide to do it.

We are now looking like real dopes and sucked in again?

Not really. They’re still a shot at JAC my only concern is they’ll play too much hardball and miss out, I don’t think we are being screwed around

Good old inside info. I’m mates with a guy who’s long lost cousin is JAC’s second uncle twice removed trust me he’s coming to WT

Hooper on 360 saying he's heard some noise surrounding JAC and Souths. I know we've had some pretty concrete sources on here, but the more this drags on the more you feel it's bad for us.

Can't the moderators keep Hooper off this forum.

I really dont care if JAC comes to us or not...we will lose Harry as per loan agreement and have a suitable replacement in Liddle...the rest of the team will have some new young guys still learning the craft of NRL and we have seasoned players still on the books...Tamou is coming and will lead the pack hopefully..
Jac is playing in an outstanding football side in a very successful system with a very stable and brilliant coach,he is surrounded by very talented players week in week out..he wants to move closer to family, which is fair enough, but do any of you people think he can win games on his own for us?..have a look where he is,have a look at the Souths roster, coach and indigenous players there he is friends with that are talented players in finals contention....
Then look at what we have to offer...some people should really look at the real world and not the emotional dream they can sometimes let cloud their judgement..

I agree. I think he will sign with us because we have a lot to offer him. I think that we can get him just like we got Tamou.

If we don't though it's cool. We'll get another quality player or a couple of other quality players. Some young kid will develop into a weapon for us. The good thing is that there are plenty of quality rugby league players out there looking for the chances we can offer them.

I welcome your opinion Earl, but to be realistic, what are we offering him that other clubs wont except a bundle of cash to play FB .,,all I see us offering him is,to be closer to family, still work in the same employment and huge money in an untried position..

I agree if he doesnt come to us we can find some suitable players out there and we can also concentrate on developing younger guys that show talent and ability ...hopefully we keep them and they become the next Ted or Paps...

On a side note,I honestly think when the COE is completed it will be a huge benefit to the organisation as well all round...

Right. Got that! Thanks.

JAC is like any other player, same as LM. He is a VERY good player. There is an amount of money at which he is worth convincing him to play with us. IF he comes for that amount of money or less, fantastic, happy days. If he doesnt come because he wanted more than that amount of money, happy days.

I think that for any player that wants to join our club from somewhere else they ask some of the following questions?

Are we a team that will Play finals? - No
Whats the culture like? - Benji was shafted/Leaks
Do we have good training facilities - No/Another Year
What is the coach and performance team like? - Hard Nosed
How does my contract $ and term stack up - Cap tight
How does the Media portray us - Non supportive

So we seem to attract players from other teams (Tamou) that want to play longer in the NRL.
In reality if there a quality 1st grader that's great as they instill knowledge and dedication, but there is a balance.

We attract younger players that are looking for an opportunity to play regular 1st grade - Grant / Utoikamanu, Blore, Kepaoa.

So based upon these facts until we get the earlier points in order i don't think we are going to attract players with solid 1st grade experience like JAC now, unless we throw a stack of cash at them and generally as prior signings (Mybe/Reynolds/Packer) they are not on the field or when they are don't warrant what we are paying them.

For now coming into 2021 rather than spending, lets be conservative have a stash fund to upgrade players that perform, i would not mind having $335k set aside as performance bonuses for some of the younger players (Its what the NRL penalized us anyway) so when it comes to retaining them as we tend to lose players to richer clubs.

I think that we need a JAC type player (Speed/Skill/Experience) but unsure we will attract anyone till 2022.

That might be the thing that stops Souths getting JAC if they want him. Storm pretty clearly want a pretty top level player who can come straight into their team. Guess we’ll have to wait and see

We had a chance to give Storm Talau for JAC we didn't we are a club that pins its hopes on potential.
Given that all we can do is develop our own and hope the good ones don't get pinched.

Why on earth give them anyone, least of all someone we want to keep. If JAC comes here we already have to pay him double what he is on. There has to become a point when you have to say enough is enough in negotiations.

It is clear that we are the only team to let him have a go at playing fullback and pay him accordingly. He either wants that or he doesn't. We also offer a job closer to his family which was his other desire.

If he has other motives that needs to be filled, he hasn't mentioned them publicly.

If he has welfare needs to bring him to Sydney, Melbourne have a duty of care for the wellbeing of their players, every club has let quality players go for a range of reasons when they would of preferred them to stay (welfare, discipline, interpersonal relationships, injuries) it's part of managing personnel in any company.
