Johnson staying on is dependant on Suali
No chance of getting JAC according to Paul Crawley.

Well we can lock in JAC going to souths now :money_mouth_face:

Not sure of its accuracy, but rumours are also circulating that Storm and Cowboys have put in offers to Johnston. Wasn't fond of it earlier in the year but found myself gravitating toward us putting a offer in for him - he's been great for them this year.

Hate that we always seem to be fighting for crumbs. That most of our targets are essentially based upon how the dominos fall for other clubs.

I can see it all unfolding now - Storm want a decent player swap before letting JAC go a year early on his contract, AJ to the rescue! Ethan Lowe will be medically retired at Souths to free up the extra cash they need, after they’ve offloaded AJ, to sign JAC on the coin he wants. JAC may even be willing to take a bit less if he can play with his ‘brothers’ and under Unca.

A simple and a highly likely scenario, imo. In fact, I’d bet my house on it happening. We’ve seen it all before, the strong just get stronger while the weak, as you say always seem to end up fighting for the crumbs. It’s such a fair comp this NRL, can’t wait tho watch the same teams fight it out year after year over the next decade - it will be so enthralling!

I think it's more like the smart clubs get stronger.

Would storm take brooks?

They offered him a contract oreviously. So yeah.

I think they'd be happy with Hughes these days over Brooks. seems to be another manufactured halfback out of that system like Cronk. if Bellyache got his hands on Brooks in 2016 then he'd probably be the premier halfback in the game. unfortunately multiple coaching changes and his personality traits have let him down.

as a fan of his and as a local junior of the club I truly hope he can turn it around and Madge can get a halves consultant in to help him, but I'm beginning to worry that he's hit his ceiling.

Do you really think Brooks would be the premier halfback in the game with the right coaching ? In general I think sportsmen do well because of hard work and talent. I think basically every sportsman gets top quality coaching.

I'd love to see Brooks come good but to me his performances are all on him.

I thought Cleary switched him on. He played exceptionally well in 2018. He seems to have drifted back to mediocrity in the past two years

Really ? Last 2 years - hmm in his Dally M year under Cleary he got 11 try asssts - last year under Madge he had 24, plus more line break assists, more offloads, he lead the comp on line engagements and his defence was better.

He has definately had a horror 2020 but 2019 was Brooks best year

Why would JAC return to WT?
Have we had any players who have moved on from us, become legends and returned? Like JAC, they leave us to further their career and increase their income. As his uncle Wally said, if you want to be the best Josh, you need to play with the best. He will go to Souths, if he can’t get in there, he will be at the chooks.
I often wonder why Madge took on the challenge?
We will not be any good until we stop being a JV. Same goes for the dragons.

What’s this got to do with anything? Wests Ashfield own us now

It’s still an issue for fans 20 years on and the media uses it to harm us at every step of the way.

Build a bridge

At best JAC will be top try scorer.
We already have a top try scoring winger and our team is still struggling 😂
But in all seriousness I think JAC would be huge for the club

We need Josh Addo-Carr so badly.

If your club needs a winger badly, then it has serious issues in other areas that need addressing even more badly. He isn’t a game changing signing.

While I'd like to see Addo-Carr here he won't be the game changer we need until the halves are sorted. If he came tomorrow he would get used like Tedesco used to be, just give him the ball on every attacking play and let him sort it out. Didn't work with Tedesco, wont work with Addo-Carr.

Last night, given half a chance he skips outside of his opponent with pace and puts Papenhuysen over against the run of play. He keeps his team in the game after Souths had the running in field position and tackkes on the 20. That was in the end game changing.

That try he set up for Paps was pretty classy. Once again there’s no way any of our players could have replicated that

Also thought his draw and pass was pretty decent for a bloke who supposedly can’t pass. It was a tricky one at full speed

Mate wingers are definitely undervalued. I don’t think you could name one top team that would be where they are without their wingers,

. I don’t believe he is an absolute #1 priority signing however it’s not often a high caliber player, best winger in the game (imo) comes onto the market

Yeah agree, the more quality you can fit into your side, the better. Just gives you that extra threat that the opposition need to spend more time looking out for, which can then lead to opportunities elsewhere on the field, if not directly as a result of that player. And in the top 8, just about every single team has two very high class wingers.

A light breeze could take Brooks

I don't think Madge would let Brooks go
BUT
if we were to let a player go who would that be
?????

Why don't we just give Melbourne Brooke's for Grant

2019 he had 16 try assists and 10 line break assists. He didn’t rate in the top 50.(Source nrl stats)

I think the interesting part is the drop in line break assists and clean line breaks. That may indicate a change in the way Madge wants him to play. It is my opinion that he is far more effective when he can play what’s in front of him as opposed to more structured attack - hence my comment regarding him regressing over the past two years

As a Club we have stopped - it is the fans who haven't.

I think we used to get players like Lote and Gareth because we had one of the most exciting players in the comp and our attack was one of the funnest to watch, and the Australian coach. Now we have no draw cards at all. If we can get one player to build on, like how Panthers have the best halfback in the comp now, then you can attract more stars a little easier. We currently don't have any foundation to bring people. Gotta start somewhere. JAC is pretty exciting, it would be more enticing to get others if we have him than what we have currently

No one to keep up, and basically we don't have players that back up.

He probably wouldn’t have even gotten the ball. We would have just taken a hit up for a 5m gain.

I love nofa but I don’t think he has. He has many other different quality attributes to JAC but beating his opposite for pure speed isn’t one of them
